COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules’ aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Rated 3/15/13. Thanks to Jay for the 12 oz bottle! Poured into a generic tulip. A: Pours a reddish copper color. The head is a one finger offwhite shade. Definitely an attractive DIPA with a nice amount of lacing left on the glass. S: There is a lot of caramel, plummy expressions, and faint pine on the nose. Surely, this one is past its prime. T: A sweet caramel opening gives way to plenty of earthy, boozy, and piny qualities on the finish and aftertaste. Past its prime? Yeah - even still, I’m impressed by how balanced and mellow this one comes across. The boozy notes in no way ruin my moderate enjoyment of this one. M: The texture is medium, and thankfully isn’t too syrupy or boozy either way. It also lacks some of the sharpness some DIPAs develop - but to be fair, this IS an older bottle. O: Quite good, considering its advanced age. Fresh, this is one to keep an eye on.

Tap. More on a resiny, coniferous side that any citrus. Thick, chewy. Delicious bitterness. Heavy malt base. Semi-sweet, but all the bitterness and warning booze hide it to the background. Complex brew, great.

Amber, clear, small head. Grain, toast, caramel, hops, alcohol well balanced. Bitter, sweet, heavy, full body, soft carbonation.

Beautiful. Tinted marmalade, uniform lace on the ivory colored head. 10/10 on nose...sweet toast, pine, subdued citrus, honey, wood. Perfect. So easy to drink for the complexity, well balanced, cereal, toast, grapefruit, a creamy texture. Outstanding!

Poured out of a CAN. Amber brew with decent head. Smells and tastes fairly well balanced with a bit of citrus and floral thing happening with the hops. POW! Thought this to be the everyday offering of an IPA but didn't read the CAN too well. This is a "double" IPA at a respectful 10% APV. CAN or no CAN this is a very chuggable brew that can literally mess a person up. It tastes great and is a brew that I hope to stock up on next trip into town. Also hope to find it in bottles next time but most likely the lame distributors in my area will only do cans..

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2017 On tap at great divide. Pours deep amber with thin head and a bit of lacing. Malt forward... Nose is bready with hints of caramel. Taste is mildly bitter, sort of nutty, with a sweet honey finish. Medium to heavy body, liquor-like finish. Different from the double IPAs I'm used to on the east coast. Really enjoyable.

Presentation of beer to be sold at the Norwegian Vinmonopolet. 20.sep. 2017. Bottle. Slightly hazy deep orange-coppery. High off-white, long lasting head. Appealing aromatic nose of mild grapefruit and tropical fruit. A powerful beer with excellent balance between rich piny, floral hops and a malty backbone of sweet caramel with toffee-notes. Ends with a warming feeling from high, well hidden, alcohol. A excellent classic DIPA.

Bottle @Bir&Fud Bottega (Rome). Ambrata spenta, leggermente torbida, schiuma bianca non molto persistente. Al naso ossidazione, metallico, malto, mela grattuggiata matura, note citriche. In bocca è maltata con amaro senza spunto. Corpo medio-pieno, carbonazione media. Ossidata.

Another overly malty IPA. Lacks all hop and citrus flavor. Slight booziness to this one. Had out of a bottle in myrtle beach ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
