3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a 650ml bottle dated July 22, 2005.
Very cloudy appearance in an orange amber color-nice. Creamy foamy 1 finger head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing throughout with a bit of sediment.
Smells grassy, hoppy, sort of malty and also sweet with sticky notes again. There is also a bit of citrus/grapefruit notes detected.
Tastes largely of hops, but not too strong and bitter. I feel like the 10% ABV can be detected near the end of each taste. The malt presence is stronger than I would have thought and the grapefruit notes are much stronger than in the smell.
Medium body mouthfeel overall. Smooth for all of the ABV and as much of a hopbomb that this is supposed to be.
Because it is so strong in its flavors and with a 10% ABV, I don’t think that I could drink alot of these over and over.
Overall, I thought that it was a good DIPA, but not as outstanding as I would have expected. I’ll try it again as it has a great reputation (and maybe the age of my bottle had something to do with not completely overwhelming me) but I wouldn’t say that it is the best DIPA that I have ever had.
Lecker! DandyWolfFloyd (1255) - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 10, 2018

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2018 What a masterpiece of IPA this is, these guys just went for broke on this one and it worked, my me! Perhaps the main reason it isn't my maximal score is because it lacks some personality in its final touch, but everything is perfect setting up the taste agenda. Deeply advised to any hophead. Lekki cytrus, trochę nut chlebowych, tropików i kwiatowego aromatu.
Jest naprawdę gęstę, sporo ciała. W smaku natarcie cytrusów i ostrej goryczki, dalej trochę słodyczy i karmelu. mithe (1980) - Opava & Brno, CZECH REPUBLIC - DEC 14, 2017

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2017 Thick hoppy and full aroma. Nice bitter and some great earthiness with fruity hints. Overall great DIPA. ttoadee (1659) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 25, 2017
Orange/amber pour, quick tan head. Nose is tropical and woody. Bitter. Middle is a full bodied malt confrontation, toffee, orange marmalade, bitter alcohol. Finish is bitter and long. wombat23 (2129) - Texas, USA - NOV 14, 2017
12 oz. can. Hazy copper with a cream-colored head. Aroma and taste of caramel malt, citrus, pine, bread, floral notes. Moderately bitter finish. Good. Blastomorpha (150) - - NOV 11, 2017
Nice amber colour with a thick white head.
Light malty aroma and some slight notes of hops.
Looking at the ABV I expected something quite sweet. On the contrary this is a very hoppy DIPA and the bitterness is strong expecially in the long lasting finish.
Faithful to its name. rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 26, 2017
bottle. Amber with one finger head. Solid malt body, light caramel and quite a bit of nutty, bready notes. Solid hops, substantial bitterness. Old school style, but very well executed.
