Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

On tap at the Flying Saucer in Charlotte. Very hoppy IIPA with a nice citrusy aroma and flavor. Malt in the finish balances it out. Excellent.

10%ABV. double IPA. Poured out amber. 12SRM. Nose is sweet with caramel and toffee aromas nice sweet candy, pulled sugar aroma. Nose bear the end has cat pee, bong water funk. Mouthfeel is full and soapy. Palate has an interesting full bodied umami almost savory taste feel to it, the briefly opening up to allow pie crusts, bread crusts, wheat toast flavors in. Hint of animal crackers. Hops are earthy, resinous, sappy, grassy finish. Finish is medium-long. Resinous, sappy, back of the tongue. Overall a big IPA that likely started with impressive grain bill where the brewmaster then felt that the hop lineup they started out with likely needed augmenting and ended up with a beer with a specific gravity that needed to be managed and then translated into a race to name the beer; Hercules being apropos, Gros being another. Goes on Favorites List!

A deep orange-coloured beer sampled on draught at the Yardhouse at New City at Lincoln Park in Chicago. Strong aromas of malt and resinious hops and a strong white head. A powerful beer with a creamy mouthfeel, a strong sweet malt base and incredibly powerful hops with plenty of orange peel, pine resin and grapefruit in the taste. A blockbuster of an IPA. Surprisingly easy to drink considering the high ABV and the powerful flavours. An excellent Double IPA.

On tap @ Artigiano in Fiera 2016. Ramato, riflessi ambrato carico, con schiuma beige fine e persistente. Aroma intenso e complesso. Calda, molto calda, corposa, spigolosa, poco carbonata. Incredibile equilibrio, decisamente armonica,

Delicious and bursting with bright hop character. Based on the label description, I expected more noticeable malt influence, but that was lacking. Even though that was lacking, I am not bothered at all since I dont expect that to come through in a DIPA. Definitely will get again.

bottle @ Keg Liquors / Clarksville IN --- bottled May 17 2016 --- Big aroma of malt and hops. Hazy dark amber color, beige head that stays at 1", lace cobwebs. Taste is caramel malt, medium carbonation, and solid citrus hops. The catch is that its all perfectly balanced and exceptionally smooth, especially considering the high abv. Highly recommended.

Bottle from Carmine Street Beer Shop. Must be a long standing one since it pours like a suspension of golden flakes in a copper liquid, spongy light beige head, floral hops aroma, med carbonation, bitter orange peel taste, thin body, long bitter finish. It gets much more bitter towards the end, dont know whether due to expiry date issues.
