COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules’ aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Enthused to pour this top-rated bomber driven up from San Diego & brought to market by our local bottle shop. Looks tremendous in pint glass: apricot colored with moussy white head and champagne-like cascading. A showy malt aroma, yet disappointingly little by way of hop aroma-- only scant piny notes. This beer offers a lot to the senses when sipped, as it’s gushing with caramel sweet crystal malty core and plenty of piney hop flavors, then leaves a a resiny hop bitterness on the lips. Nearly-full bodied, a bit sweet, but does dry out some in finish. Alcohol notes become more prominent when I worked my way through it, but not distracting. As it warmed, it came to have some fruity, and heavy qualities I associate more with barleywine. So glad for bottle-dating. This one was two months old, plus it’d done some traveling from Colorado to NorCal via San Diego; I’m quessing this quashed some volatile hop compounds. I’d like to try again with original aroma intact.

Lecker!

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2018 What a masterpiece of IPA this is, these guys just went for broke on this one and it worked, my me! Perhaps the main reason it isn't my maximal score is because it lacks some personality in its final touch, but everything is perfect setting up the taste agenda. Deeply advised to any hophead.

Lekki cytrus, trochę nut chlebowych, tropików i kwiatowego aromatu. Jest naprawdę gęstę, sporo ciała. W smaku natarcie cytrusów i ostrej goryczki, dalej trochę słodyczy i karmelu.

Orange/amber pour, quick tan head. Nose is tropical and woody. Bitter. Middle is a full bodied malt confrontation, toffee, orange marmalade, bitter alcohol. Finish is bitter and long.

12 oz. can. Hazy copper with a cream-colored head. Aroma and taste of caramel malt, citrus, pine, bread, floral notes. Moderately bitter finish. Good.

Nice amber colour with a thick white head. Light malty aroma and some slight notes of hops. Looking at the ABV I expected something quite sweet. On the contrary this is a very hoppy DIPA and the bitterness is strong expecially in the long lasting finish. Faithful to its name.

bottle. Amber with one finger head. Solid malt body, light caramel and quite a bit of nutty, bready notes. Solid hops, substantial bitterness. Old school style, but very well executed.
