English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorados original strong ale -- it has been Great Divides winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernations massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass. Strong malty aroma with sweet fruits, honey, and a bit of spice. Taste is driven by toffee and caramel sweetness with a touch of woody bitterness at the end. More carbonation than I expected in the palate, at a bit too much for my liking. Overall, a very nice warming winter beer.

[email protected] Medium, rich aroma with dry fruits, some alcohol and bourbon style malts. Dark copper color with minimal light beige head and clear liquid. Medium/strong, balanced taste with dry fruits, malty bourbon, some vanilla and a hint of coffee. Nice combination soft bitterness. Wide taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with malts, dry fruits and some alcohol. Medium/light body with medium/light carbonation. Overall, stylish and high quality. Could have more intense taste though.
