COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorados original strong ale -- it has been Great Divides winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernations massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time.

Enjoyed on tap at the Wild Goose in Chicago, IL prior to seeing Zero Dark Thirty. Appearance is a dark, thick caramel with a rich white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is very rich in caramel malt, snells boozey, pretty much like a barley wine. Taste is less abrasive than a barley wine and goes down pretty smooth, with dark fruit and caramel malt notes. Very enjoyable, quality brew.

Reddish brown, mahogany colur with a small, creamy tan head. Aroma has malts, some spices, coriander, grass. Malty taste, pretty rich flavour, bitter finish. Medium body, low carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Very nice overall, great for the winter season.

Brewhemia (248) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 16, 2016
Clear deep red/brown with small white head. Sweet malty aroma (caramel, bread, dough and overripe fruits), some hay/grassy hop aroma and some vinous alcohol presence as well. The taste is over ripe fruity sweet, vinous and has quite a lot of roasted malt flavor (toast, coffee) plus a quite hoppy bitter and acidic finish. On the hoppy side for an old ale I would say.

Pours dark brown with some red tones, light brown thick foam. Aroma is sweet toffee, butter, sweet fruits. Enjoyable well balanced smooth mouthfeel, malty breadiness dominates initially with light tones of chocolate and a slightly bitter end dominated by roasty tones. Certain fruitiness also appears that reminds of dried fruit. Alcohol very well hidden though it contributes with pleasant warmth. Excellent seasonal beer to be sipped in the cold months!

Bottle enjoyed at home
Pours dark brown with a thick tanned head. Smell of toffee, bready malts, some hops, nuts and hints of toast. Medium sweet, roasted malts at first, then some toast and ash, toffee, dark malts and caramel. Moderate to medium bitter finish. A superb brew!
