3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a clear dark copper, with a finger of rich light tan head. This retains with a smooth creamy layer that leaves a nicely laced glass.
The rye shares equal billing with the malts in the aroma. A touch of spice and bread back them up. It’s a pleasant aroma, but subdued.
The taste is mosty sweet on the tongue, with a mix of bread, toffee, and light fruit. Some balancing earthy hops mix with the spiciness of the rye to finish this with a satisfying dry ending.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a slightly astringent creaminess. There is just enough of a light sharpness to the carbonation to keep this crisp in the mouth.
I don’t have a lot of experience with this style, so I can’t comment on it’s general quality. It is a very tasty brew. Refreshing and complex at the same time. A nice beer.
12 oz can. Pours orange with tall, long-lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is of grassy hops, grain and bready malt. Body is medium and crisp. Grassy hops, biscuit malt and grain fill the mouth. Finish is long and dry. Nice brew. Bacchus66 (1006) - South Carolina, USA - OCT 31, 2017

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a caramel amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that left great lacing. The aroma was malty and sweet with a bit of honey. The flavor was malty and toasty with caramel, honey, bread crust, grain and golden fruit. Long finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Excellent.

12oz can purchased at France 44 and consumed on a too warm for September kind of night. Pours a traditional copper/amber color with limited head. Nose is malty with a heavy dose of rye spice adding some nice complexity. Taste picks up plenty of caramel notes at the onset. This one feels a little more sugary than others within the style. Bitterness comes into play towards the end but really stays in the background letting the malt, rye, and grains be the stars. This would taste even better if the Minnesota fall weather cooperated. luttonm (6978) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 3, 2017
Can in Seattle. Soft ring foam, rich amber/brown orange body. Nice caramel sip, muscovado sugar, bitter edges. Pretty delicious. Rye bready crust aroma. Sweet round edges. Nice bitterness. This works very well. NordicV (2556) - Malmö, Sweden, SWEDEN - JAN 24, 2017
Bärnstensfärgad öl med ett lättare gulvitt skum. Doft av rågkryddighet, karamell och säd. I smaken tillkommer en gräsig beska. DocJitsu (2060) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - DEC 10, 2016
