2009. Bottle 54/1188. Pours a brownish-red plum color with just a few bubbles surfacing. Really no head to speak of. Toffee, caramel, whiskey (but not massive), raisins and plums in the aroma. Sweet caramel and toffee flavors along with cherries, whiskey, plums, wet barrel notes. I’ll say Old Ruffian’s edge has mellowed. Has some boozy warmth but I’ve got to say it drinks awfully easy and smooth and even a little thinner in the body than expected. 6th June 2010. RBESG 10 Grand Tasting at the Brasserie 4:20 warehouse. Cloudy dark brown beer. Creamy tan head. Soft smooth palate. Lovely oaky malty sweetness. vanilla, toasted coconut, fairly subtle bourbon. Finishes soft and dry and with some warmth. Lovely barrel aged beer! UPDATED: JUL 26, 2012 6/14/10 Bottle at RBESG Rome Grand Tasting. Hazy amber colour, yellow head. Aroma is very sweet, bourbon, raisin, vanilla, alcohol. Flavour is malty sweet, raisin, some bourbon, bitter finish with some vanilla. Fullbodied. Too sweet for me. 645311 Re-rate: RBESG ’12, Bratislava. Grand Tasting at Richtar Jakub. 75cl Bottle. Deep dark brown, off white head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, oak, toasted malts. Flavour is sweet, chocolate, oak, vanilla, bourbon, wood, light roast, bourbon finish. Fullbodied. 750ml bottle. Bottle # 255/461. Poured a deeper brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of whiskey, vanilla, dark fruits, nuts, and some wood. Hazy red brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of whiskey, sherry, vanilla, caramel, dark fruits, and some alcohol. Taste of vanilla, pine, tobacco, caramel, nuts, whiskey, and light alcohol in the finish.

Golden clear pout with medium sized white head. Labor really took on a lot if the whisky barrel attributes. Smooth vanilla with a nice wooden backdrop. A bit sweet with some nice alcohol warmth. Rating #1300. Bottle 835 of 1188 generously picked up by Rusty @ Papago...THANKS RUSTY!!! Murky burnt tangerine body with crimson hints and very little carbonation. Only a few large bubbles made their way to top of the beer after an aggressive pour. Nose is quite complex with vanilla, oak, molasses, brown sugar, and whisky. Flavor is dark candied fruit, roasted malt, toffee, cedar, oak, maple, raisin, vanilla, and whisky. Lots of wood and ash. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel. Bottle: Large bubbly off-white head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Light dark amber color. Aroma of rye bread, grain, mild toasted malt. Over the palate came heavy malty feel, light dusty grain and some hoppy notes as well. Mild vanilla and alcohol with a hint of Bourbon like notes. Full bodied with an average carbonation and thick alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor with good counter bitterness. Lingering malty and light vanilla like wood like finish.

25.4 oz bottle. Cloudy brown with a sudsy coating. Nose is bourbon, honey, vanilla and dusty oak. Medium body with trace carb. Taste is caramel, bourbon, bitter greens and cardboard. Not much subtlety with a grassy finish.
