Bottle #266 of 461. Year 08, bottle courtesy of Brewtopia!! Back to Colorado for my rating. Even though I’ve had this beer every year it’s been out I have never rated it. It seems fitting that I get a bottle from the first year to see how it handles the year of time. I’ll say this, it’s time to start a vertical of this one. Murky dark brown sugar pour. Still carbonated well and oxidized just right by the barrel aging. Lots of stuff left on the bottom of the bottle fr years of proper cellaring. Sweet malty smell. Nothing but grain, bourbon, oak and dried tree fruits. Taste is malty goodness into the dries tree fruits with an oakey, vanilla, bourbon tannin biting the tongue for several minutes after the first sip. Don’t hesitate @ the 25-30$ price tag. U won’t be disappointed.

Pours deep amber with off-white head. Whiskey, wood, vanilla aroma. Flavor has whiskey up front, wood and vanilla booziness over a nice barley strength...moderate sweetness. Notes: on tap at the Great Divide Barrel Bar, GABF '16

Flaska från SB delad med Svensson. Det snygga grundölet har fått väldigt mycket ekkaraktär som kanske är lite kantig och träig. Annars snygg och maffig med fudge, torkad frukt och lite cognac. Gott.

Bottle, 2017 vintage. Rich dark fruit aroma with notes of caramel, whiskey, oak, pine resin and booze. Pours dark caramel brown with a thin tan head that has good retention and lacing. Starts with dark fruit and caramel sweetness with a bit of the whiskey in the background as well as a full body and sticky pine resiny mouthfeel. Finishes smooth and dry with oak flavors and pine resiny hop bitterness that linger on the palate with a bit of warming booze. Pretty good, not a huge fan of the finish, but still quite good.

Aroma is nice raisins, hop juice, creme brulee, cocoa beans, marzipan. Taste is heavy rum, creme brulee, phenols. Almost no carbonation. Too heavy and phenolic for me.

Bottle. Red chestnut, offwhite foam. Strong sugary roast, caramel, light oxidized. Fullbodied, almost sticky but plenty of sparkles to prevent it. Iodine, soy, caramel sauce, berries, spice/gunpowder. ok.

Bottle. Ruby color with beige head. Aroma is candied fruits, oak sugar, marzipan, prunes, Schnapspraline. Taste is oak sugar, plums, prunes, candied fruits, malty, good, nearly medicinal bitterness. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Very nice classic BA Barleywine.
