Intense caramel and pine aromas, very bitter and hoppy but with enough caramel sweetness for balance. Very intense flavor and a long bitter finish. Very good, in small amounts.
12oz bottle at home. Pours dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Full bodied with sweet dark fruit, raisins, sweet malt, then caramel, citrus fruit, citrus hops and a dose of pine. Bottle. Reddish browny coloured beer with a strong head. The aroma is hopped and roasted, and the flavour is very strongly hopped and bitter with a heavy bitter intertwined with maltiness finish. Poured from the bottle(room temp) a gorgeous ruby red-brown with a sizeable head that dissipated after about 10 minutes into a fine layer with lacing.
The smell that came from this brew is awesome! I note fruit, hops, and sweet caramel malt that has me spending more time with my nose in the glass than a person oughta shoulda. ;^)
And....the promise from the smell does NOT fail to tranfer itself to the taste in big bold fashion. The sweetness of the malt and the bitterness of the hops just works so darn well together that I literally have to pinch myself to make sure that I'm not dreaming. Then, add the fruity tones(hard to say which is dominant. Grapefruit, plum, other?) to the mix and here, imho, is a Barley Wine Style Ale that sets the standard by which all others should be judged. And I'm a BIG fan of SN Bigfoot
Btw, the +10% abv doesn't even come into play as far as the taste goes and that's *another* testament to how great this brew really is.

Bubbly beige head stayed on a ruby still body.
Malt, over stewed fruit, marmalade, spice & dark berries aroma.
Full bodied, thick, syrupy, cloying, minimal carbonation & quite sticky on the palate. Dry on the aft.
Taste is much as the aroma, dry dark berries, bitter underripe fruit, overripe fruit, apple & a very bitter finish.

Deep brown red with lasting head. Caramel nose. Up front burnt toffee sweetness followed by aggressive earthy bitterness. A beer to finish the night (or finish you off).

Bottle from GBBF 2016. On the pour this is clearly a big hoppy barley wine. Lovely ruby red colour with beiege off white head. Nose is sweet, bitter, earthy, barley sugar, yeast extract, caramel, sugar toffee, grapefruit rind, marmalde, orange peel, pine, resiny. Taste is solid. Spicy, orange and grapefruit peel, caramel, acidic, pine, bitter citrus. The hop is massively bitter, possibly too much. The finish is all bitter citrus rind.
