Pours deep black with a small white head. Aroma has lots of coffee, burnt malts and caramel. Taste has sweet coffee, roasted and smoked malts as well as caramel and toffee notes. Finish is sweet malty, caramelly with a hint of smoke and lots of coffee. Delicious!!!
Bottle shared in NH. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, restrained smoke, charred wood and liquorice. The taste is bitter - sweet, smooth smoke, roasted malt, liquorice, dark fruit and fruit cake with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit tamer than I expected. Smooth and easy-going. Not bad. Leighton (22021) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 19, 2015

Bottle: 2011 vintage. Deep brown pour, fully black in the glass. Foamy light-beige head skims to a bubbly film & collar quickly. Aroma contains mild smoke, light char, sweet hickory, roasted malts, faint chocolate, & a hint of caramel. Taste has lots of dark prune, currant, & some dark sweetness to it. Light roast, smoke element is very soft with a faint metallic twinge & a touch of tartness in the finish. A little bit of sweet chocolate syrup, too. Medium bodied. Hoped for more.
