Exudes with coffee, chocolate, and a some 'burntness.' Carbonated and full-bodied, bringing the mouth a dose of thick, mouthfeel. Residual sweetness lingers on the roof of the mouth. Has that nice, zingy bite of hops that I yearn for in a porter. Quite enjoyable. pauliefrog99 (302) - FLINT, Michigan, USA - MAR 13, 2002
Nice robust porter. Great chocolate roast coffee flavor. Very drinkable. Quite tasty. One of the better porters i have tasted. lstorie3 (23) - Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA - OCT 28, 2003
initially aroma is of chocolate covered cherries, but dies down quite quickly and reminds one of Cheerios. It is a very dark beer allowing only a modest amount of light to penetrate. Heads is somewhat thin and off white. Appropriate for the style. in the mouth it is somewhat thin but very tastey. It tastes of piupe smoke and slightly sour fruits. very tasty and balanced. Overall, this is my favorite porter. I like this a great deal and look forward to drinking much more of it. bhindbluis (17) - Chaska, Minnesota, USA - NOV 11, 2003
Very dark beer, the head foamed 1/2 above the top of the glass. Slight bitterness at the end. Overall a good brew. OhioDad (2492) - Hilliard, Ohio, USA - AUG 21, 2005
12 oz bottle pours black witha nice creamy tan head that settles back to about an 8th of an inch and laces very well. Aroma of roasted malts, some nut, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is very chocolatey.. Milk chocolate, roasted malts, a bit of nut, some caramel quite tasty. A nice bitter coffee finish makes this very tasty. This beer is quite full bodied for a porter. Very creamy and mouth coating and overall a very nice porter. I like this one and I’m glad I bought a six pack for tonight...

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and tupalev - courtesy of me. Poured very dark brown with a red tinge and a small off-white head. Aroma of dark over-roast malt, lots of hops, grain, chocolate, peat, coffee and smoke - very dark and mysterious. Taste follows the nose, but even more bitter, very strong lingering espresso character. Mouthfeel is bitter, creamy and pretty full body for the type. Overall - hell, I loved it. Really surprised it rated out over 4, but it was very nice. frankenkitty (2012) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - FEB 23, 2007
Pours deep mahogany with a thick, holding tan head. What an awesome aroma! Perfect... chocolate malts, coffee, roastiness, sweetness/bitterness, light smoke, a hint of dark fruit... nothing wrong in the aroma department. Excellent for the style (or for the "malted genre" in general). Mouth is a little thin and dry, but the flavors are damn solid. Comforting, bittersweet chocolate... with just a drop of alcohol to remove you from your safety-zone. I’ve GOT to get out to Denver again...

Comes out of the tap a nearly opaque reddish sable with a decent head. Rich aroma is smoky with nutty and cinnamon hints and an undertone of chocolate. Mouth-filling flavor is chocolaty and smoky; it has nutty, spicy and malt hints, as well as a touch of hop bitterness. Lively and smooth texture leaves a tingly, slightly sweet, mocha aftertaste. corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 25, 2009
Pours a very dark chestnut brown color with dark ruby edges and a tan foamy head that settles into a nice lacing. Very roasty malt aroma with hints of chocolate, coffee and nut. Very smooth roasted malt flavor with coffee, chocolate, oatmeal, toffee, smoke and hops. Slightly hoppy up front giving way to creamy malt center and a dry, bitter and slightly smokey finish Elwood (3336) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - SEP 21, 2009
Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Deep brown with red highlights. Sizeable, creamy, light tan head. Good head retention and great lacing left behind.
Aroma: Roasty nose with notes of earth, chocolate, plum, and coffee. Yum!
Flavor: Light chocolate notes, earth, mineral, bitter roasted notes, a bit of coffee, and a good dose of malt sweetness. This is a great porter!
Palate: Soft, Medium-low, carbonation with an oily, medium-rich mouthfeel. Long, roasty finish.
Overall: A must try for porter fans. A great brew that is sure to please.
