3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Have wanted to try this for a long time. Love the brewery. Now the beer.
A beautiful rocky head that clings to the glass in chunks. Golden orange and clear body.
Surprisingly some bready, nutty notes immediately apparent with the citrus and apricot aroma. Pleasant.
Taste is very balanced and smooth. Malty sweetness with average bitterness. Hops are grassy and fresh-tasting.
The texture is very soft almost pillowy. I was expecting a little rougher texture so I don’t know what to make of it except enjoyment.
The beer goes down so easy. But the memory of it lingers long afterwards. Body is medium-to-full. Not an imperial, but close. Excellent brew. I was not disappointed.
Pours clear light orange from the bottle. Frothy white head that lingers. Aroma is more fruit than pine, primarily grapefruit and orange peel. Taste is crisply bitter, mellows slightly at the finish with the caramel complementing the hoppy bitterness. Body is medium, carbonation is moderate, the brew has a smooth, creamy feel. Overall a pretty good IPA, even if a touch too bitter for my mild tastes. WortTaps7 (4) - - DEC 28, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2017 starts with citrus and hops and ends with an enjoyable malty finish. a different take on an IPA and a refreshing drinker tfontana (1184) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 22, 2017
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from The Beer Store, Nashua. Appearance is clear, light amber orange with slow, light sparkle, finger-width foamy off-white head with good retention and tons of soapy lacing. Aroma is grass, citrus and mild pine over malt backbone. Taste is initial sweet citrus and fruit changing to pleasantly bitter hay and cracker. Palate is medium bodied with smooth texture, average carbonation and dry bittersweet finish. Overall, this was at the outer boundaries of freshness (9/5/17) so expect this is even better when fresh, but demonstrates good balance and some complexity even still. Outstanding! Extremely drinkable. Hints of malt and not as many pine notes that I expected. pleispleis (220) - Maccagno, ITALY - NOV 10, 2017
bottiglia 355 cl, schiuma beige fine media persistenza, colore ambrato velato, al naso malto ananas e frutta tropicale,, in bocca malto caramello agrumi frutta tropicale, corpo medio, carbonatazione moderata, lieve astringente, un po’ troppo sbilanciata sull'amaro accentuato molto lungo nel finale. 10.11.17 Bill Becker (2003) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 16, 2017

This pours a beautiful copper and leaves an abundant head that is slow to dissipate. The smell is pure pine to me and I anticipate that this will translate to a strong pine flavour and I'm right.
This is a very bitter ale to me with the malt making only a token presence. I wish it was a bit better balanced but all in all, I could see myself buying this on a regular basis.
Like someone else mentioned...try the Hercules Double for more complexity.

Extreme bitter more than hops. Was contemplating between this and dogfish 120 minute. Will have that next

Bottle @Bir&Fud Bottega (Rome). Ambrata carica, appena torbida, schiuma bianca media. Al naso sentori di ossidazione, malto, note citriche, resina. In bocca ha un attacco maltato con finale amaro a cui manca totalmente spunto. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Non freschissima.
