Originally called "liquid bread," the Dopplebock style guided monks through periods of penitent fasting. Wolfgang has heavenly notes of caramel, dark fruit, and toffee balanced by a subtle hop character. While its revered history evokes and appreciation of austerity and sacrifice, this Dopplebock is a rich luxury - no repentance required.

gyllenbock (9713) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - NOV 15, 2013
Bottle from Systembolaget. Clear mahogany with a medium head. A lot of malt both in the aroma and taste. Also toffee, dried fruit, brown sugar and notes of syrup. Almost a full body on this one, the finish was a bit sticky.

Abrakarl (436) - SWEDEN - NOV 15, 2013
Was expecting more of this brew from Great Divide. They usually make excellent beer. At least its unusual. Fudge and malty taste and aroma. Will not buy it again.

Pyrmir (6199) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - NOV 13, 2013
Bomber bottle. Clear brown amber with off white head. Aroma malty, dark caramel, toasted malt and molasses. Taste is malty, sweet, toasted malt, molasses, biscuit and some roasted notes. Nice

Dark brown color with compact beige head. The aroma and the flavor have too much cereals accent; there is some dark caramel and light flavor of roasted malts; some residual sweetness, but minimal; the alcohol feeling is well controlled; just a bit too much roastiness in the end.
A good beer, but unexciting.

BigHoss (172) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - NOV 10, 2013
From a 1 pint, 6 FL.OZ bottle. Color is a brown amber with medium light brown head that disparates quickly. I smell sweetness, caramel, yeast, alcohol and flowers. Taste all the same with a brown sugar and resins. Very flavorful and complex.

Ktwse (5341) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 9, 2013
Pours dark brown with two fingers of tan head that drops fast. Aroma of caramel, toffee, hazel nuts, earth. Taste is initial toffee sweet followed by a slightly medicinal bitterness. Finish is sweetish with light bitter. Body is medium to full and creamy with soft to average carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown, appear. Sips med to full with chocolate and hops. Slight syrupy palate. Nice brew

ansalon (4103) - Stockholm, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - NOV 7, 2013
Pours dark copper brown with a medium foam white head. Aroma is caramel, rye bread, orange zest, butterscotch, honey. Taste is caramel upfront, with orange zest, butterscotch and honey. Aftertaste sees some rye bread and minerals.

camborne (656) - Hopkins, Minnesota, USA - NOV 3, 2013
Caramel and dark fruit nose. No flavor is too pronounced. Dark fruit and mellow caramel. Palate is very smooth. Really easy drinking

dbhenry (139) - El Paso, Texas, USA - NOV 2, 2013
A pretty good lager. It is dark with a nice head. The aroma is subdued. The taste of the malt dominates the hops, and it has a fruity sub-taste, that is a little sour. A full-bodied beer, it leaves a slight cloying aftertaste, a little syrupy.
