4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz., bottling date 6/14/12. Aroma of rich, dark, sweet, toasted, bready malts, with notes of toffee and pumpernickel, along with mild raisin and chocolate in the background. Impressive clear deep dark reddish-brown color, with a lasting, creamy, tan head. Flavor profile is similarly full of dark, gently sweet and toasty malt, dried dark fruit, faint roast and cocoa, but features some mild banana and not inconsiderable hop bitterness, increasing towards the finish, that were not hinted at in the nose. Some mild earthiness and spice appear towards the end as well. Finely and actively carbonated palate with a suitably hefty feel and body. This is a great Doppel. I’m certainly glad I sat on this for a few months until it cooled off outside.
Pours a umber color with a smaller, but stable head of beige bubbles. Aromas of grains, mild silage and dark fruit. Dark caramel, pale grains and hints of burnt sugar in the flavors. Just a hint of bitterness in the finish and into the linger. Hints of alcohol. Bock flavors without much complexity. 6/12

Bottle from Total Wine, on Fourth of July. Delicious. Just like the bottle promises: caramel, dried fruit, and toffee. Highly recommend. dfearnley (2317) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 16, 2015
Bottle to stange glass
Light cherry, coffee, some booze, and some earthiness. It’s a deep clear red with a thin ringed white head and it has small lazy effervescence. Taste is caramel, hints of coffee, lightly toasted malt, some currant, and a hint of blackberry and some moderate bitterness. Beerdedone (3452) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 1, 2015

Burnt sienna with a tiny of red. Fast diminishing head, very malty and intense toffee nose. Plums, intense roasted coffee beans in taste. Thin but long lingering...Wolfgang :) pivo (2688) - GERMANY - JAN 17, 2015
Nice color--luscious brown. But no head. Huge caramel malt body. Sweet as all hell. Unbitter. Full body. Smooth. Nice alcohol to support the heaviness. slowrunner77 (12880) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 25, 2014
"Super nice malty aroma and flavor. Breadline, yes, but it is also distinctly Great Divide. They have a common theme with their malty stuff that I absolutely love, though strict traditionalists may cringe. If you like Hibernation, you’d like this." Fatehunter (2615) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - SEP 15, 2014
Pours a finger of head on a cloudy brown colored body.
The aroma is dry hay, caramel and grain.
The taste starts off with a mild lemon bitter and quickly moves to caramel and malty sweetness that carries through to the end. The finish is long and sweet.
The texture is sticky with moderate carbonation.
A solid drink.

Rated on 7-10-2012 (Draft at Dash-In - Fort Wayne, IN) This beer has a small creamy smooth beige head with a short retention, transparent reddish brown body, no lacing observed, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, roasty and rich. The flavor is caramel malt, roasty, toffee, and has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and has a lingering roasty aftertaste that is not offensive. This beer is worth trying. More please!
