Bottle. Dark Reddish Brown in colour. Strong mild dark ale with robust roast flavours. Very Malty; roasty malts, dark chocolate, espresso coffee. Fruity; dark fruits, berries, hint of spice. Sweet roasty chocolate malty with a nice sour fruit/hop edge. Very drinkable. Nice Mild Ale! (2011-04-03)

GBBF. Cask. Clear dark brown beer. Softish and dry palate. Slightly odd flavour profile. Soft cocoa chocolate and a tiny streak of smoke. There is also a whiff of sulphur around the hops that detracts a fair bit. Finishes dry with more cocoa and some orangey hop.

On tap at GBBF ’11. Brown, with hardly any head. Smooth tasty and full - Porter-like. Very pleasant, soft, creamy choc, with a nice smell too.

Cask (GBBF2011, Wed)
Dark, and with a tight beige head - beautiful. Super chocolatey aroma, mellow rich roast. Ditto the taste. Very full and succulent palate. Chocolatey roast is delicious, the roast has no harsh aspects at all. Perfect strong mind.

Bottled. Hazy deep brown colour, close to black, with a mediumsized beige head, that leaves some slight lace. Aroma is coffee, mild roasted notes as well as dark dry fruits an some toffee. Flavour is coffee, roasted malts, some chocolaty and cocoa notes with some mild bitter finish. Pleasant roasted finish with some chocolate as well as some mild toffeeish notes.
