Hand-pulled half-pint in ’Chequers’ Oxford during a pub crawl on 23rd Nov 13.
The body was amber/brown with a slight red hue, on top a beige head of creamy foam.
The nose was malty with wood and fruit overtones.
The taste was also on the malty side and again, like the aromas had both fruit and wood hints within the flavours. Hop finish, but not too bitter or harsh, yet you knew it was there.
Overall I thought it a good and different brew, don’t know enough about US Amber Ales to comment on if it was following a style or not. RuneStumo (2696) - Haugesund, NORWAY - NOV 29, 2013
