Quite sweet and deliciously chocolatey from the malt. Medium body with some understated tropical fruit notes from the hops. Not too bitter, not too sweet. Fits somewhere between stout and black IPA in my book. A good spot.

Gravity cask at the 2016 Cambridge Beer Festival. Properly black - OK dark brown but just - with a creamy tan head and an impressive amount of natural carbonation. Over-roasted coffee competes with pine needles and turpentine for the aroma. Bitter taste with fruitiness of the hop dominating. Taste is slightly acrid due to the intensity of the roasted malt but I can live with that.

Bottle from appellation wines. Pours dark black. Nose of forest floor, bitter coffee, dark chocolate and pine resin. The American hops come through on the palate, along with roasted malts. A lovely balanced black ipa.

Ciemno brunatne, z przebłyskami. Piana drobna, beżowa, opada zostawiając ślady na szkle. W aromacie palność i żywica. Amerykański chmiel. Łuska od słonecznika. Wszystko co powinno być w Black IPA. Słodkawe nuty w aromacie. W smaku dość wytrawne, słodycz ustępuje miejsca goryczce w posmaku. Palone, czekoladowe, dużo słodsze w aromacie niż w smaku. Alkohol lekko grzeje w przełyku. Bardzo przyjemne.

330ml bottle from The Beehive. Good sized cream head, nice little lacing. Dark black body. Nose is coffee, chocolate milk, roasted nuts. Flavour is sharp spicy hops, roasted nuts then big coffee flavour which carries on to the finish and lingers a long time. Milky chocolate plays around the edges. Rich, smooth, creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation. Delicious, luxurious.

Fajne. Typowa Black IPA. Zarówno w aromacie, jak i w smaku. Wygląd średni.
