black with some ruby reflexes, small tanned foam; roasty coffeeish aroma, some hoppy fruitiness; medium bitterness, medium sweetness, lightly sour; medium body, moderately thick feel, average carbo, long bittersweet and little bit dry finish; Overall: very good beer

A Jekyll & Hyde beer - beautiful fruity nose with a long bitter taste with both hops (clean & fruity) & Carafa malt (dark chocolate) contributing. Rated by BrewTom

Bottle in the Steaming Head in Newcastle. Pours black as coal with a white head. Aroma of coffee. Initial taste of coffee and chocolate with a hint of licorice.

Koloru czarnego z rubinowymi refleksami i niewielką beżową pianką krążkującą na szkle. Aromat ziołowy z dodatkiem czekolady. W smaku czekolada, palone słody. Wysycenie niskie i średnio niska goryczka.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2016 Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Black with a thin creamy off-white head. Has some roasted malt aroma, but it’s not very stated, although it’s slightly more so in its taste.

On tap in BeerCab. Nice color so black. Small and off head. Chocolate aroma, hoppy notes too. Medium-high bitterness, milk-chocolate and grapeful in taste. Medium-high body. Roasty-bitter finish.

Bottle. Black with tan head. Roasty aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste is similar, roasty with some resinous pine in the finish. Decent body with a mild bitterness. Decent but perhaps used to be hoppier

Had this in bottle at Sytches Campsite, Much Wenlock, Shropshire, Thursday 21st August 2014 Pours more a very dark very brown as opposed to black, there is a good clarity. Roasted malts but smooth leading into a pleasant hoppiness. Tangy with a slender zippiness. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
