For the high alcohol content this finished pretty smooth considering. Hints of spice and mild fruit present. Low carbonation and a pretty clean aftertaste. superspak (6208) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - SEP 16, 2011
12 ounce bottle into snifter, about a year old now. Pours extremely hazy and cloudy golden orange color with 1-2 fingers of a dense off white head with excellent retention that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap. Some very nice lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of vinegar, grapes, tart fruits, and some spices. Extremely interesting aromas, but i guess thats what the wine barrels will do. Taste of light vinegar, tart fruits, spices, and grapes. No bitterness, but there is lingering notes of spice and light fruits on the finish. Alcohol is surprisingly well hidden with only a small warming on the finish noticed. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Nice balance of all flavors is present as well. Overall an interesting and unique beer, but it was quite nice and enjoyable for what it offers. ddemmingjr (890) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - SEP 16, 2011
pours cloudy soft orange with solid white head that persists. Pear, apple, grape, cedar and herbal notes on the nose. esters and fruit hit you first and then a sour, tartness from those merlot barrels really power through. crisp almost cider like texture from a fair amount of carbonation. I felt this was or the porter from the collaboration was the best of the lot from Cleveland Beer Week 2010 Dogbrick (14300) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 7, 2011
Bottle from the long sought-after Ohio Brewers Collaboration sampler. The beer pours a slightly hazy golden-orange color with a medium white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Vinous aroma with touches of earthy malt. Medium body with a wine-like character backed up by sweet malt. The finish displays some oak notes and leaves a tart vine fruit aftertaste. Pretty good overall. beergodd1 (401) - Conneaut, Ohio, USA - MAY 5, 2011
Poured a Hazy Copper color, small head, and not much lacing. Smell of wine and maybe a touch of Oak. You can Taste the wine notes mixed in nicely with the sweet malt, not a bad combo. Somewhat of a lighter mouthfeel than I was expecting, but the alcohol presence was there. My 4th fav. of the Collaboration sampler.

golden with large white head. slight nose of some oak with touches of alcohol and perhaps some sourness from the barrel. little bitterness before a touch of very mild malt sweetness and then some oak with touches of fruitiness before lingering alcohol providing depth. overall there is surprisingly little flavor in this brew with the positive being how well it was fermented Veldrid (120) - Canton, Ohio, USA - MAR 1, 2011
Growler from Buckeye Beer Engine - Pours orange and a little cloudy with light beige head. The aroma comes across as grape juice and some maltiness. The taste is much of wine only with a sweeter side to it and a very dry finish. The alcohol is very well hidden for being almost 11%. Really enjoyed this beer and would love to have it again. Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine. Hazy orange pour with a medium off-white head. Malty nose with some grape notes. Malty flavor with honey, sugar, wine and a dry bitter finish. Interesting and worth a try.
