3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2013 [Will correct soon - this first pour apparently run through a line that previously held cream soda.] Draft at Jerry’s. Light copper with big, foamy, beige head, good legs / Bright, sweet nose of cut pine, spun sugar, candied citrus, and soap / Medium body, sweet and lightly syrupy, almost bock-like with good hop bite bitter finish lurking under the malty body / Murky flavors of spun sugar, assorted Jolly Rancher, soap, cut pine, and caramel / The effort is there, but ultimately too sweet and far out of the style.
Chillwave pours a semi opaque amber and has an off-white head with minimal lacing. Upfront aromatics include raisins and lots of malt balancing the liberal dose of hops with traces of berries towards the end. It drinks smoothe for 9% ABV with little lingering bitterness. Clean, medium mouthfeel with a sugary aftertaste. Caught up with it two months passed it’s prime, but still a good IIPA. Sidnne (11) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 20, 2017
Had this on tap at TRT and ended up bring home a growler. Absolutely love it. Excellent craftsmanship and balance. The bitterness is balanced perfectly by the malts and hop flavors. Crisp finish. Goes down quick for such a strong beer. Can’t wait for this one to come back around again. shadey (2140) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 13, 2017

Excellent IIPA. Huge amount of malt to stand up to the bold hops and yet balanced.

I normally love a double IPA but this one rubbed me the wrong way at many levels. The body was too heavy on the palate, like sugar syrup (though more bitter than sweet), the alcohol was too sharp, and the bitterness too unbalanced. Big, but I just couldn’t enjoy it. moderate citrus, pine, and faint malt aromas. dark gold and clear in color with nice long lasting head. taste is hop forward with notes of pine, resin, and lightly citrus. underlying rich malt notes JPDIPSO (6236) - Wauwatosa, USA - FEB 8, 2017
Rated as Alchemy Hour Double IPA. Amber to copper color with a modest sized, beige head. Tiny bubbles. Sweet, candied and caramelized grapefruit. Some tropical fruit scents as well. A little searching shows some faint scents of pale and toffee malt. Really smooth feel. Sweeter start, with some light fruit and pale malt. Middle has a hint of honey, alcohol, and floral bitterness. Finish is quite clean, with a mild malt linger. 2/13

Bottle shared. Thanks Gregg! Lovely honey and orange marmalade nose with some earthy notes in the background. Well-balanced and has a big malt profile on the palate. Doesn’t feel overly heavy, but very drinkable. More orange marmalade character. At first a harsh bitterness, but mellows out substantially as it warms. Good stuff. jinroh (1694) - ESTONIA - SEP 30, 2016
Pours deep orange, closing on amber maybe. Aroma is not really floral or fruit - hops are more from the earthy and slightly harsher side. For some reason reminds me Põhjala’s Põhja Konn. Body is malty, nicely fragrant - which is unusual for such a big beer - and masterfully balanced with the earthy hop profile. Glad I could try this!
