Very good beer. We had a couple of pints of this one last night at The Stout. Smells of thick vanilla and chocolate. Aromas of espresso and even a little nuttiness. Taste is predominantly dark chocolate bitter with a little sweetness. Pours pitch black with a suddy head. Only imperfection is the palate is a little less than full. On cask.
October 31, 2012 - on draught at the Bar Hop Black & Orange Fest. It’s ... black, with a smallish brown creamy/fizzy head (4-). Aroma is a classic imperial stout - deep, deep roast, mostly coffee, some baker’s chocolate, plenty of herbal bitterness, a little vanilla - dry and bitter. Taste - wow, chocolate! - tons of dark Belgian chocolate, coffee beans and herbal bitterness and some alcohol but somehow this was all about the lush oily chocolate - love it (like the best hot chocolate ever but in beer form). Thick, creamy, sticky mouthfeel, mildly carbonated, finishes dark and chocolatey with some light bittering and I swear truffle oil. Fantastic.
