I tried this beer on tap on October 7, 2011 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a very hazy yellow colour with a 1" snow white head. The aroma was wheat malt, peach, and light spices. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was very peachy........too peachy, and I like peach.

Comes in the usual Great Lakes Brewery brown bomber bottles at the LCBO. At first, it pours a clear amber colour but at the last pour, it is a cloudy amber-beige colour. Its head is minimal, has no retention, nor lacing. The nose is actually nice with spices and a bit of the wheat, reminding me of a hefeweizen. The peach is way too mild in the back. Same for the taste. What turns me off here is the wax mouthfeel-taste that I have found in many Quebec micros. It is not as bad here, but I sense that it can be, if I would of waited longer to have this one. Merely a few months since I have purchased this one and I feel it was probably much better fresh. It will probably get better with time (as most GLB brews) as this is the first year of this one.

650ml bottle, 5% a/v Pours cloudy pink gold, nice white head. Aroma is very much a wheat beer, banana, cloves, a hint of peach, smells nice. Taste is.. strange. Like a normal wheat beer with some peach forced in there.. it doesnt really seem to fit. Palate is sweet, slightly fruity, but again strange. Overall not bad, probably better in the summer months

This beer is horrible. Again based on price, it is terrible. No peach. Resembles a slightly sour home brew in taste, mouth feel and colour. It is just a horrible disappointment. It seems to be hit or miss with the Great Lakes Brewery.

wilderthanyou (758) - Guelph, CANADA - OCT 23, 2011
Pours a murky beige colour, not attractive. The aroma is peachy, like a watered down peach juice kinda deal, with a yeasty, slight dough note coming in near the end. The flavour is yeasty dough up front, then a kind of tartness, like peach skin or something, then watered down peach juice in the finish. It’s refreshing, and it’s good enough flavour to be interesting.

Bottle from LCBO store 200. Very hazy and clouded straw, pours about a one finger thick white foam, which only leaves a little lace on the tulip. The aromas are of citrus, stone fruits, yeast, and barnyard. Very low sweetness with medium bitterness and medium-high tartness. Quite acidic and astringent. Medium bodied and refreshing. This is a great effort.

650mL bomber from the LCBO. Pours a hazy straw gold with a large, quickly dissipating to nothing head. Looks like Metamucil. Aroma is nice, lots of dry yeasty character with some orange and faint malt. Flavour is like a fuller bodied Belgian Wit, citrusy but very sweet on the malt, balanced with dry yeast character. I kind of get a faint hint of peach in the aftertaste but it wouldn’t stand out to me as peach character if it wasn’t labelled as such. Sort of like the tangy aftertaste of a peach. Meh, nothing crazy, but a solid beer all around. Could have been a lot worse with unbalanced sweetness hijacking the palate.

JoeMcPhee (9553) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 26, 2011
Tap at The Rhino. Cloudy golden-yellow pour. There is a little bit of light unripe fruit and a little bit of white pepper character in addition to some bready yeast. There is a touch of light peachy flavour but it is incredibly muddy and fairly bland. A little bit yeasty with a bit of light breadiness in addition to a sort of dank rotted character. It just didn’t work for me.

650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours peach in colour, slightly cloudy, with smallish white head, which disappears quickly. Aroma is typical wheat beer, same with taste, but not really finding the peach in here.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2011 Adding fruit to otherwise generic "pale wheat ales" is nothing new. In fact, I often find myself guiltily enjoying beers of these types since they tend to be refreshing, tasty and easy to drink. However, I often encountered beers like Sweet Pete’s Peach Wheat (try saying that five times fast!) which are little more than mild fruit flavoring added to an otherwise ho-hum beer. A beer like this isn’t bad per se - it’s just obviously lacking in quality and genuine appeal.

I split a 22oz bomber with a friend that I received from "Weird Beer" in Ontario (thanks, Fo!)

Appearance: cloudy orange/yellow body. Four-finger head in a wheat beer glass, but it fizzles away and leaves no lacing.

Smell: Generic pale wheat ale scent with some (but not a lot) of peach aroma.

Taste: Very mild all around. Watery and bland up front, subtle peach flavors on the finish and aftertaste. Generic wheaty flavor otherwise. Peach is tasty while the beer is cold, but once it warms it dissipates and loses its sweet, fruity flavor.

Mouthfeel: Thin, watery, tepid. I kept swirling the glass hoping to generate some carbonation but it remained flat.

Drinkability: This would be a good beer to drink on a hot summer’s day, but otherwise it’s just another beer.

Overall, this is an easily tolerable and highly drinkable brew, but unimpressive as a whole.
