COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1950s, the Bulut family of Great Lakes Brewery came to Canada from Europe across the Atlantic. For our 25th Anniversay, weve decided to cross back over in search of traditional beer styles and, of course, we are adding our own professive touch that weve become known for. We look forward to bringing you worldly beer styles throughout this hear and hope youll join us on the journey as we celebrate our 25th anniversay

Russian Imperial stouts were originall brewed in England for the Russian Imperial Court for Czarina Catherine the Great in the 18th century. For the final release in our 25th Anniversay series weve been inspired by the south to add a contemporary touch to our stout. Weve amassed a number of freshly emptied Kentucky Bourban barrels in which weve aged the beer for 3 months. This has enhanced the flavour profile of roasted malts, rich dark chocolate and coffee with a finish of sweet Bourban. This release is best suited to aging and can be cellared for up to 3 years.

Bottle thanks to pushkinwow. Dark black pour, with a thick tan head. Big rich milk chocolate flavors, roasted malt, vanilla, notes of licorice, bourbon, and sweet chocolate. A nice sipping stout. Good.

Bottle shared by JohhnyJ. Thanks! Black pour with a tan head. Some bourbon notes, but lots of roasted malt, smoke, and licorice. Cocoa powder, a bit of meat, and some graham cracker. The flavor is big on the booze. Lots of bourbon. Meaty, smokey, and roasty. Cocoa powder, graham cracker, and licorice. Pretty intense beer.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of roasted malt with medium bourbon notes and light vanilla notes. Taste is also dominated by dry roasted malt notes which are somewhat offset by large black chocolate notes with some medium bourbon notes with light vanilla notes also perceptible. Body is full with oily texture and good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol notes. Interesting beer with good balanced thought is missing a little something to keep up with some of its cousins.

750mL red wax thanks to t0rin0 or brocansail. Thank you! Pours a deep black with reddish espresso foam. Nose is butter, soy, smoke, savory steak. Taste is silky, malted milk balls, cookie, mild alcohol warmth, and rich melted chocolate. Dusty, woody, bitter finish with a silky chocolate mousse mouthfeel that is superb. Outstanding.

750mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out licorice, bourbon and coffee very heavy. Flavour is heavily roasted, with notes of coffee, bourbon, and almost a hint of licorice. Dominated by the roast, coffee and bourbon. Very full-bodied and heavy on the palate. Well-balanced, with a good flavour profile, without any harsh elements. Great stuff.

[5150-20130309] Bottle. Mild dirt and cat aroma with a bit of wood chocolate. Black body with a quick foamy brown head. Chocolate dust and woody roast malt flavour has a long-lasting aftertaste. Full body. Great, mild and drinkable. (7/4/8/4/15) 3.8

750 ml bottle shared by jprime. Black with a tan head. A masterfully crafted imperial stout aged perfectly in a bourbon barrel. The barrel compliments the base beer so well its hard to imagine the two apart. Really good BA impy!

Bottle from Marcus, Thanks! Pours a pitch black with a thick brown head. Aroma of a mix of bitter and milk chocolate, a bit of vanilla, oak, llittle booze, faint coffee notes. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, milk chocolate, oak, light bitterness. Full bodied mouthfeel and low to medium carbonation. Fairly drinkanle for the style. Really surprised by this one.

On draft at WVRST. Pours an opaque black with nearly no head. Smell is roasted malt, vanilla, and bourbon. Palate is heavy bodied with not a whole lot of carbonation. Taste is sweet at first the bitter for a short while before relaxing into a long sweet and bitter aftertaste. Pretty decent RIS.
