3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2013 Alcohol, coffee and roasty dark malt converge in this black monster. 750ml pours a good frothy dark head. Aroma is a bit muted, sweet fruit and dark malts. Catching some vanilla on the long, dry, roasty-acrid-alcohol finish. Grassy hop. Coffee flavor is very good. Palate is a bit undecided - thankfully not sticky with malt, but also not very creamy and therefore a touch thin - not quite Péché in the feel. I do like the effort, and will return to the bottle for any further notes. Thanks GLB! - rerate - cooling and resting the bottle produces a silkier palate, hiding the bold alcohol a tiny bit and improving overall by one tick.
Draft to taster
Coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, molasses. Oily black, long lasting creamy, light tan and long lasting head. Taste is molasses, toffee, toasted malt, dark chocolate. Wow...I’m liking this one. Ferris (16107) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 5, 2015
Draft - Lots of dark rich espresso, chocolate and vanilla. Deep jet black with a light brown head. Dark roast espresso, lots of chocolate, a hint of vanilla. Superb, with a long finish you wish would last forever. Minderbinder (3469) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 7, 2015
Pours black with low beige head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, ashes. Taste is of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, some acidity. Palate: Full bodied. Soft carbonation. Slightly sticky on the lips. Overall: Good. Well balanced. Nicely "drinkable" considering specs. tom10101 (6197) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 5, 2015

Appearance: Black with a medium easy to revive dark reddish-brown head and some lacing.
Aroma: A lot of vanilla, espresso beans, caramel, cocoa powder and light fruitiness.
Taste: A bit acidic at first (coffee-like acidity) followed by vanilla, caramel, espresso beans, cocoa powder and light coffee bitterness. Moderate sweetness.
Palate: Light-ish / medium body with a moderate to medium carbonation. Tasty vanilla and espresso bean finish with a mild lingering roastiness.
Overall: The vanilla and the espresso beans are exceptionnally well preserved after 2 years. Really tasty. Alcohol is well hidden. It lacks a bit of body, but other than that it’s a really impressive stout.
Bottle. Deep black pour with a few bubbles of tan foam. Aroma is really nice, nice roasty coffee, light vanilla, chocolate. Taste is nice light sour roastiness but really good rich desserty vanilla-caramel flavor, light coffee flavor. Palate is med-full bodied with light carbonation. Nice stuff.
