An Imperial Black IPA that is big and black, loaded with a wonderful array of aroma’s that consist of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, citrus, pine and more. Much the same in the taste while finishing very dry and deliciously bitter. Not a beer to be trifled with.

Pours dark with thick head. Very hoppy with tones of citrus. The 10% is very noticeable but blend in very nicely with the hoppy goodness!

I get citrus, pine and sweet chocolate in the aroma. That and lots of roasted malts make this a big-tasting beer that is really smooth. And delicious.

Keg at Brother’s Beer Bistro, Ottawa. Black with beige head. Chocolate and licorice up front. Mid sweet with medium-full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Salmiak and chocolate, fudge and citrusy tar. Big and bold.

Can from the brewery. Opaque dark brown pour with a good sized fluffy dark tan head that hangs around for a while and leaves tight lace all the way down. Nose is equal (large) parts pine resin, chocolate, coffee and smaller but healthy doses of roasted nuts and toast. Also has some floral notes and hints of vanilla with a mild citrus undertone. Taste is great bitterness with only a slight molasses sweetness. Mouth is full and oily with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. Alcohol is dangerously well integrated and appears a s a slight heat in the finish. 9/5-/8/4/17

Tap at barhop. Pours dark brown with a red edge. Nice, sweet juicy hop aroma. Medium body, medium carbonation. Grapefruit, orange zest, sherbet, pine, some juicy trop fruit stuff, a little charry toast too, maybe not enough. Tasty though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours very little head and has a very dark amber appearance. Sticky lacing all around. Aromas are quite yeasty and some citrus and floral hop notes. Flavours are pretty hoppy, floral and herbal type hops, mild spices and resiny hop notes. Some malty hints and coffee hints as well. Slick and fairly smooth mouthfeel. Mild warming sensation.
