COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Its been said that Canada is the only country in the world that knows how to live without an identity. This beer doesnt help much with that crisis. From the fiercely irresponsible stereotypical image on the front of the can to the distinctly American style of the beer inside it weve really made a mess of things. What have we done? Sorry.

My experience with this beer was very disappointing. The aroma that first hit me was not apealing to me. First taste had the hint of bitterness that I enjoy but then I was hit with the flavour of bad grapefruit. Totaly turned me off. Could not finish my glass. Only the second beer ever that I could not finish

Diolch JoeMcPhee. Golden copper with a grand frohg whitr head. Grapefruit hop aroma. Lovely refreshing brew. Crisp hop, fruit goodness. Not to in your face, but rather subtle, delicate and very enjoyable. As crazy as Canada gets, but very nice indeed.

On tap at Wrvst. Pours a cloudy dark orange with a thick white head. Aroma of floral hops, light fruit, spices. Flavor of bitter hops, bready malt, and spices (hint of clove, allspice, and possibly rosemary) with citrus and garlicky hops in the finish. Very interesting spicy IPA. 7/4/8/4/15 [3.8/5]

2012-10-21, cask at Cest What, Toronto, as Canucklehead, 7-4-8-5-16=40
Cloudy deep blond color; small creamy head. Nice aroma of fruity hops, and light sweat. Smooth toffee flavor; very nice hopping, strong but fully aromatic, more fruity than resiny; quite long final.
Seems fresher than last night. Very good.

2012-10-20, cask at Volo, Toronto, as Canucklehead, 7-4-7-5-14=37
Cloudy amber color; medium sized creamy head. Cloudy amber color, creamy head. Nice aroma, hop-fruity; also some rubber and hop sweat. Low carbonation; good toffee flavor, with good hopping, fruity and creamy; there is a hint of grappa.
Good, but probably better on normal non-cask draught.

Pours a light strawberry blonde with a huge white head and tufts of pillowy lacing. Nose of sweet malts, pine and hops. Light carbonation. Taste is straight ahead astringent bitterness with some hops up front, but not overly floral. A refreshing brew with quick bitter finish. Compared to my favourite IPAs, a standard pale just doesnt cut it, but it would be a great cold beer on a hot day.

Papillon (400) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 28, 2012
473 mL Can. Deep gold body with a rich foamy and tenacious white head that leaves a set of foamy ribs on the side of the glass as it is sipped. Pungent resiny hops and a hint of grapefruit rind and a soupon of spruce make up the aroma. Pale malts and resiny hops dominate in the flavor; resiny hops and grapefruit rind in the aftertaste and finish. A fine Canadian brew that Ill ask for more of.

Crispy clean taste, pours a pale yellow, very hoppy smell and a hoppy taste, pretty citrusy, you can really taste the cascade come through and it has a good finish. Good offering

GuillaumeCL (344) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 23, 2012
Can from the brewery. Pours a copper gold colour with a little bit of white head that dissipates quickly and leave lots of lacing. Smell is quite nice, definitely hoppy with some floral and citrus notes. Palate is a bit thin, but has very nice carbonation. Taste is surprisingly good, a bit of watery hoppy bitterness at first, then it rounds out with a bit of sour sweetness, and a lingering bitter aftertaste. Very nice, and surprisingly good.

Copper orange in colour with a large and long lasting white coloured head, excellent lacing. Aroma is floral and grassy, some soap, quite fresh, some peppery spiciness. Flavour is moderately bitter, floral, glassy, light lemon citrus, some soap bitterness. Bitter mouthfeel, medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, bitter and rather dry.

A nice offering from Great Lakes but could use a larger body though.

650ml bottle purchased at the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario.
Opened on March 4, 2010.
No date.
