News of any new hop coming from the Yakima Valley perks the ears of IPA brewers everywhere, but, with Citra, things were different. The buzz was bigger. As Citra’s wave rolled across the land from the west coast we waited... and waited. Finally it crested, and a sample crashed into our pilot system. After brewing with it all the buzz made sense. Comments ranged from "Well that changes the game" to "It’s so good it feels like we’re cheating." Today we procure as much as Citra as we can to bring you as much of this IPA as our little brewery can muster. All hail Citra!

Citra hops are like cheating. If you like punchy citrus hop IPAs, these are automatic hits. A big fluffy white head with solid lacing on an unfiltered dark straw body. Solid, juicy citrus hops lead the taste profile, with prominent grapefruit, pineapple and orange elements. The hops sustain really well and the sweet malts make their presence known throughout. A big taste for only 65 IBUs.

Pours a transulcent orange honey gold; very heady and foamy. Aroma is really impressive - grapefruit, blood orange, light malt, trademark GLB pine character. Taste is sweet and as juicy as any IPA I’ve had. Loaded with orange and tangerine flavours; grapefruit, honey notes. Just enough bready malt to keep it from tilting into Orangina territory. Nice, smooth hop bitterness that’s easy to take. Delicious, nearly flawless beer, and another world-class IPA from Great Lakes.

Pours a hazy deep orange with lots of thick white head. Smell is distinctly citrus with a tiny bit of grass. Palate is good, with medium-light body and decently active carbonation. Taste is a bit bitter which suits it, but with a bit of an alcohol note in the aftertaste, which is undesirable. Overall, not bad.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2017 Admittedly, I’ve been looking for one and was excited when I stumbled upon it. Pours a hazy orange, frothy thick white head, some lacing. Great citrus aroma off the top. Incredibly balanced, juiciness with a slight bit of resinous feel, bitterness and sweetness, leaves your palate wanting more. Overall, awesome beer.
2016-12-07: Still great, taste/finish more overly bitter than the first one.

Cannette 473 ml. 6.6%. Excelelnte.

Tank Ten rocks, another over the top awesome beer from a great (lakes) local brewer. Was jonesing for a retake on the Lake Effect IPA, and viola here is Karma Citra. OK I am an admitted IPA junky, but this one is really good. Piney citrus aromatic awesome. Love it Nicely unfiltered cool looking can. Great beer from GLB

on tap at beau’s oktoberfest 2016 - the craft haus. clear bright gold pour , copper-orange tint, with a very creamy off-white head, tons of lacing. fruity, juicy and lightly toasted golden maltiness; bright citrus - citrusy and nicely boreal; obvious citrus cones, danky melon fruitiness, funky pepper, bitter herbs. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; smooth and almost balanced spicy-citrusy finish. pretty solid citrus american ipa.

Wow, just so good. Huge sweet citrus aroma and bitter hit, then malt, slightly dry and rich body and more hops on the finish. Simple, and great. Like other great IPAs I’ve had, when its fresh its twice as good than two weeks later.
