The weather channel describes Lake Effect snow as a “mass of sufficiently cold air moving over a body of water creating an unstable temperature profile in the atmosphere.” Who cares. This beer, however, has nothing to do with that drivel. It was inspired by a summer spent drinking heaps of IPAs on a stoop on Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo, NY.

pushkinwow (2793) - Ottawa, CANADA - JAN 20, 2015
Sampled at Barhop. Slightly hazy light sheet with a nice fluffy white head. Crisp blended citrus with some grass, fresh, some caramel make. Moderate body and carbonation, bitter, becomes dry, nice finish.

lukin (635) - Ontario, CANADA - JAN 15, 2015
bottle. Hazy orange colour and small bubbly head. Very strong pine aroma, nice. Taste is well balanced with sweet caramel malts, although the piney and citrus hops are definitely the attraction. Good ipa.

RhetoricalAns (939) - Red Deer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 14, 2015
650 mL bottle. Hazy straw gold pour, couple of fingers of white foamy head, medium amount of sticky lacing. Tropical fruit nose, and lots of pine. Taste is similar with a big hop finish. Great IPA.

FLBH (32) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JAN 12, 2015
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2015 Bottle. Lovely clear, bubbly appearance with plentiful but thin white head. Smell is sweet citrus like a satsuma slightly past its best. Tastes of tonic water, pith & grapefruit with a hint of pineapple.

Eructoblaster (4205) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 6, 2015
Bottle - 650ml. Cloudy golden body with a thin white frothy head. Fresh hoppy aroma with citrusy, malty, yeasty, and herbal hints. Alcohol is subtle. Its sharp hoppy taste carries mango, orange, coriander, and woody notes. Ends with a long bitter/herbal finish. Very enjoyable.

czar (9085) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 6, 2015
pours unclear bright golden orange with a nice fluffy off-white head offering good retention and lacing. mangoes and melons galore, juicy citrus, soft pine needles, doughy pale maltienss, touch of caramel, woodsy vanilla, ginger zing, pepper traces. average to moderate carbonation, light to medium body - very oily in fact, balanced spicy-citrusy finish. tasty and very good! very solid offering!

HopsandBolts (258) - Ontario, CANADA - JAN 4, 2015
650 ml bottle from the LCBO.

Appearance: Pours a hazy pale yellow with a finger of dense white head. Retention is short and there is lots of lacing left behind.

Aroma: Pine, citrus hops, floral notes.

Flavours: Citrus, hops, orange peel, lemon, hint of mango, grain.

Mouthfeel: Moderate viscosity with a rich creamy finish.

Overall: A really nice IPA. I’ve had this one before but like a lot of others, I hadn’t reviewed it. For me it’s the aroma and creamy mouthfeel that really shine for this one. I haven’t had anything from the Tank 10 series thus far that wasn’t really good.

OOKPIKABLE (193) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 1, 2015
Pours amber with thick white head. Typical IPA aroma of grapefruit and pine.Tastes of same. SSlightly oily mouthfeel. All in all, a typical IPA. Nothing special.

neuromatt (1225) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 31, 2014
22 oz bottle courtesy of Chris, served in a snifter. Pours slightly hazy amber with a medium beige head that mostly remains and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has big citrus notes, along with grapefruit, pine and moderate pale malts. Tropical fruit and pineapple also come through. The flavour is mildly bitter with fruity notes and big citrus notes that pick up again towards the end. It finishes with a long, tropical-citric finish. On the palate it is light-medium in body with a smooth, watery texture. Overall, a very respectable IPA that falls on the more subtle end of the spectrum. While the hops are well done, the malts could be a bit more prominent. 2014-12-06

dslam (103) - surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 28, 2014
Pours hazy orange with 2 fingers of white head. Poured from a 650ml bottle. Aroma of hops and citrus. A good amount of bitterness to start with, but the carbonation and citrus taste takes over and clears the pallette for the next round. For something rated 80 ibu, this is an easy drinking IPA. Overall I am required to give a low score for pallette, since the taste doesn’t linger around, but I think that is also the genius behind this beer.
