A little aging made all the difference, to give this an American strong quality. A decent dark Belgian base with a pleasant understated citrus hoppy finish. Fuller mouthfeel. tasty and dangerously drinkable. Pours extreme brown colour with a retained head. Mildly pleasant aroma.

January 6, 2012 - with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc & mabel. Bomber from the brewery c/o j&m. Opaque brown-black with a smallish fizzy/foamy tan head. Aroma is roasty, dry, nutty with some alcohol. Taste follows, more alcohol, some fruit. Average body, solid carbonation, maybe a hint of metal in the finish, and it leaves a boozy after impression.

Bottle [660ml] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Jan. 6. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small long-lasting frothy tan head. Mild aroma of light roasted malt, coffee and dark fruit. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee, light hops and a good bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good.

[4240-20120106] 650mL bottle. Light chocolate malt and old dried sweat hops aroma has a light wood note. Murky, dark brown body with a quick creamy tan head. Lightly barbecued bitter malt roast flavour has a lingering burnt finish. Medium-full body. Interesting to sample, good balance. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5
