COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Okay, were busted! Were calling this beer a weiss; its not! Were suggesting its from Miami; weve never even been there. Confused? So are we.

What we know is it is an American style take on a traditional German wheat beer - A Pale Wheat. Rather than a mild hop presence, this baby is packed with Pacific Northwest hops. Its made with a pale ale yeast which doesnt produce the same banana flavour you find in German weiss beers. We also know that it goes down smooth and tastes terrific.

So, whats with the name Miami Weiss? Its just something the guys in marketing came up with.

Miami Weiss. Aside from being a very clever play on words, its Toronto brewery Great Lakes take on an American weiss beer. Clearly a homage to the 1980s, I feel like I need to turn on some Rick Astley while drinking it. Thats what people did in the 1980s when they partied right? Pours a hazy yellow. Aroma is fresh hops and citrus. Flavor has pepper and strong grapefruit notes. For a weiss beer its strong on hops. Miami Weiss is a refreshing and different take on the style, and great for summer time bbqs. Just dont turn up the Rick Astley too loud after youve had a few. You will regret it in the morning.

Bouteille de 660ml. Merci Patrick.

Great aroma of piney hops, touches of citrus, and some light malted wheat. Good carb, mouthfeel is great. Lovely orange zest flavor, and the hop oils seem to cover my tongue in citrus. Not at all what i was expecting.

Bomber from LCBO. Hazy pale orange with a white head, decent amount of lacing down the glass. Wheat, sugar, mild yeast, coriander, floral and citrus, some bitterness/hops. Initially somewhat sweet but then becomes bitter, low carbonation, a very nice dry and bitter finish. Although not so great at the beginning it does become quite tasty as it develops, could do with a little more balance. Worth at least trying.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2011 Good, but rough around the edges. Pours a hazy deep gold with short lived fizzy head. The aroma is grapefruit out the wah-zoo, thats about it, but thats not necessarily a complaint. The flavour starts out with a resiny hop drop kick of grapefruit, there is some pale malts, biscuit, and such, but its really stands in the back ground while the grapefruit goes to town. Its a good concept, and its not a bad beer, but its a little rough, the hops are too prevalent and a little harsh. Hop Sun was considerably better balanced version of this hoppy weiss. Other then that, thumbs up!

Pours a very cloudy darker yellow, with a billowy white head of a couple fingers. Great spongy lacing adorns the sides. Crisp citrus aroma, with some light floral notes and some bread. Nice initial bitterness, with some citrus and grassy hop notes, light bready notes. Lighter body, slightly crisp, with a clean finish. Goes down smooth and clean. Tasty wheaty.
