COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Okay, we’re busted! We’re calling this beer a weiss; it’s not! We’re suggesting it’s from Miami; we’ve never even been there. Confused? So are we.

What we know is it is an American style take on a traditional German wheat beer - A Pale Wheat. Rather than a mild hop presence, this baby is packed with Pacific Northwest hops. It’s made with a pale ale yeast which doesn’t produce the same banana flavour you find in German weiss beers. We also know that it goes down smooth and tastes terrific.

So, what’s with the name Miami Weiss? It’s just something the guys in marketing came up with.

Bomber from LCBO. Hazy pale orange with a white head, decent amount of lacing down the glass. Wheat, sugar, mild yeast, coriander, floral and citrus, some bitterness/hops. Initially somewhat sweet but then becomes bitter, low carbonation, a very nice dry and bitter finish. Although not so great at the beginning it does become quite tasty as it develops, could do with a little more balance. Worth at least trying.

Hazy orange with a thin but creamy head. Really refreshing aroma of tropical fruit. Taste is fairly strong bitterness with just a hint of creamy citrus and banana bread.

650ml bottle. Hazy straw in colour with a large and long lasting white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is quite hoppy, citrus, fruit, some wheat. The flavour is again quite hoppy, lots of orange citrus, wheat and yeast. Hoppy mouthfeel, medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, hoppy, citrusy. Really good. So refreshing on this hot day. Excellent balance.

This one’s not doing much for me. Massive up front hops, but I’m not getting that much else out of it. Very bitter. Definitely nothing in a Weiss, but whatever, more interested in good beer than labels. This one just tastes like a Crazy Canuck in an ugly bottle, but with less balance.

650 mLbottle. Looks like a weisse, and the aroma is fairly typical as well. But the flavour stands out in a crowded room. There is a hint of lime, I think, and the balance of wheat/yeast is perfect. This is a really solid weisse, and should come in more socially acceptable portions.

Draft. Hazy dark gold in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of herbal and flaked wheat. Quite tropical in the mouth, along with notes of bittering spice and hard wheat. Medium bodied with a savory finish. A solid hybrid.

Bottled, the smell is very very hop. full of citrus hops. the taste is not as hoppy but it was very drinkable, it had a nice bitterness. not much wheat flavour, but a nice offering

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 re-rate: bottle from LCBO. Pours cloudy amber with a white head. Wonderful "American IPA hop explosion" aroma. Light tropical/citrus fruit flavour, grassy notes, with a bitter finish. Nice surprisingly full body with good carbonation. Much better than I remember it being a couple years ago.
