COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Okay, we’re busted! We’re calling this beer a weiss; it’s not! We’re suggesting it’s from Miami; we’ve never even been there. Confused? So are we.

What we know is it is an American style take on a traditional German wheat beer - A Pale Wheat. Rather than a mild hop presence, this baby is packed with Pacific Northwest hops. It’s made with a pale ale yeast which doesn’t produce the same banana flavour you find in German weiss beers. We also know that it goes down smooth and tastes terrific.

So, what’s with the name Miami Weiss? It’s just something the guys in marketing came up with.

Quite nice aroma of bitter melons. Hazy gold. Grainy flavour with medium hop bitterness. Wheaty aftertaste, pretty nice, medium bodied.

Tap at Bar Hop. Cloudy gold with a great citrus hop bouquet with a touch of wheat. Clean flavored with wheat, tangerine and soda bread notes.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2011 2011-12-09. Lightly hazy bright yellow body with a mdoest white head. 3+ Hoppy aroma, floral, grassy character. 7+ Good amount of hops and bitterness in the flavour, grassy hops, straw notes, pale malt underpinnings and a bit of wheat character. Average plus bodied palate. Enjoyable. 7/3/7/3/15 Tap at Great Lakes Project Xmas

2010-04-01. Lightly hazy golden body with a small white head. Mild aroma, fruity and lightly yeast with some grassy hops. 6+ Flavour is similarly fruity, lightly floral with a modest grassy bitterness throughout. Average palate. At the time I was thinking it was not really to style for a hefe, but as a hoppy wheat ale that seems to fit it more. Enjoyable, but a touch mild overall for my liking. 6/3/6/3/13 Cask at the brewery.

Sampled at the C’est What spring festival 28/05/10. Pours a light amber with decent white head. Aroma boasts fairly piney hops. A decent malting is evident. Hoppy taste with some good malt to back it up. It’s a little thin but perhaps that’s unfair considering I had it after the imperial heffe by the same brewer. Good.

On tap at Chancey Smith’s- Many samples. Deep hazed yellow, pours a frothy and rocky cap that has super sticky qualities. Instant nose of Amarillo hops, pine, lemon drop, grapefruit. Very bitter and hoppy. Again, big on the Amarillo in the flavour. Pine and resniy hop goodness meet citrus fruit and some clove like spice. Long bitter finish. Refreshing and quenching summer brew!

This is basically a wheat IPA. It’s rather hoppy with a sharp bitter finish and a noticeable wheat character. The aroma is dominated by citrusy, grassy hops.

650 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a weizen glass. Pours hazy golden with a tall white head. The head fades slowly to... and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are huge notes of grapefruit and pine, along with a touch of pale malts. The flavour is moderately bitter throughout, with a huge amount of grapefruit. Notes of wheat and pale malts are also present, but take a back seat to the grapefruit. The finish is long, bitter and citric. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a dry texture and intense carbonation. Overall, an interesting brew--light and dry with wheat on one hand, and intensely citric on the other. The combination of wheat and IPA works surprisingly well. 2011-10-06

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2011 Good, but rough around the edges. Pours a hazy deep gold with short lived fizzy head. The aroma is grapefruit out the wah-zoo, thats about it, but that’s not necessarily a complaint. The flavour starts out with a resiny hop drop kick of grapefruit, there is some pale malts, biscuit, and such, but it’s really stands in the back ground while the grapefruit goes to town. It’s a good concept, and it’s not a bad beer, but it’s a little rough, the hops are too prevalent and a little harsh. Hop Sun was considerably better balanced version of this hoppy weiss. Other then that, thumbs up!

Thanks to JB84 for this. The design of this bottle is so atrocious that its pretty hilarious. Brilliant. Pours a cloudy golden. Lots of grapefruit aroma. Tastes quite a bit of wheat, coriander, citrus with a bit of resinous hops. This is pretty decent.
