Deep gold in colour with incredible aromas of citrus, tropical fruits and mango, My Bitter Wife is an IPA for the serious hop-heads out there. Full bodied, subtle malt notes with a pleasant and balanced bitterness obtained using some Simcoe, Columbus and Centennial hops, it finishes dry with a lingering hop presence that leaves you wanting more. My Bitter Wife will be sure to awaken your senses with each sip.

Tap at the Victory Cafe. Hazy light gold with a thin white head and some lacing. Complexly sweet aromas of tropical fruit with some spruce hoppiness. Taste is quite bitter at first and then moves into a more mellow fruity sweetness. Maybe a bit too fruity for my taste. Otherwise a dry finish and a pillowy mouthfeel through the CO2. Quite good.

This is a seriously good IPA. Pours a dark orange. The aroma is all grapefruit. On the palate is foam, citrus, and a nicely balanced hops. Long bitter finish. Excellent. Recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My Bottom Line:
Oranges, flowers and resins provide plenty of juicy hoppiness in this otherwise sticky IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam covers the cloudy honey blond.
-Carbonation is quite low.
-Mouthfeel could be crisper and flavors better defined (maybe a question of freshness?).
-Hops aren’t as aromatic as they are flavorful.
-Residual sugar level is relatively high.

On tap at Volo.

Has a poignant citrus nose on a light golden body with a fairly thin white head. The "big C" hops deliver with fruity hops. Grapefruit is present, but not overpowering, backed up by a very juicy mixture of other citrus and tropical hop accents. A west-coast-IPA-style sweet bready malt effectively underpins this punchy IPA. A simple but very tasty beer.

From a bottle pours clear and golden, aroma is passion fruit and biscuity malt. Flavor is citrusy hops and biscuity malt finish is semi sweet. Medium carb medium body.

Rating number 500 lovely citrus pine aroma Pours a nice cloudy orange with a nice good sized white froth Not as grapefruity as some American IPA’s but very nice dry hoppy finish

650 np bottle. Pours a hazy, pale orange with a thin, off white head that leaves mild lacing. Aroma has big notes of pine, resin, citrus, and a hint of bread. Taste is bitter but not overblown. Notes of resin, orange citrus, grapefruit, and pine with a drawn out, bitter aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Clean, refreshing texture with a dry finish. Overall a really nice IPA. Very drinkable with lots of pine, resin, and citrus. Worth getting!

650ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a hazy pale orange with a small off white head that leaves good lace. Big nose of citrus with light background of toast. Bitter from start to finish with grapefruit dominant and enough sweet malts and a touch of honey to smooth things out a bit but the hops are the star. Medium slick body with nice carbonation and a great dry bitter finish that just keeps going. Love it.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2014 purchased at LCBO in a 650ml bottle. Very good IPA. Bitter with lots of grapefruit tastes. If there was a way to balance it out a little bit more this could be a top IPA, but none the less still very good.

Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - APR 3, 2014
Pours a slightly hazy light amber/yellow colour with some lacing. There is plenty of ’c-hops’ in the nose with some pine cone simcoe goodness. Needless to say it is all about the hops in the aroma, with those same bittering and citrus hoppy flavours carrying through on the palate. Good stuff!
