3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared with a bunch of folks at DougShoemaker’s Decemberfest 2006 - courtesy of R. Dark ruby-amber with a small head. Aroma of malt, banana, orange zest, brown sugar and a bit on cinnamon - quite nice. Flavour is sweet but not cloying - some fruitcake and licorice notes. As with their Devil’s Pale Ale, it could be a little more aggressive, but it’s still another great step forward for these guys - onwards & upwards!
Where Purchased: 600ml bottle from the LCBO
Consumed: from a pilsner glass
Aroma: Smells spicy and slightly malty.
Appearance : unfiltered medium red gold with lots of head that last to the last drop. Excellent lacing.
Taste: the ale is a little bland but the addition of the spices really helps. You can taste the spices..
Palate : light to medium body. Bitter sweet aftertaste. Great carbonation.
Overall: It was laking flavour. A little on the bland side, but still a go to beer during the holidays. I was glad to try and will buy again. MB. The Beer "Bear"on.

Pours a deep copper colour with a thin white head. Aroma is a little spicy and fruity. Taste is slightly sour and slightly sweet. There are notes of mead nutty malt, and some fruit and spices. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. It’s too meady for my taste and the spices don’t really come through as anything other than vaguely “spiced”. northernbrewrev (4) - - NOV 12, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2017 Bold, spicy and malty aroma. Pours a beautiful dark copper color. Malty aroma leads to a nice malty taste, which pairs well with the honey it's brewed with. ametras (1821) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 9, 2017

While removing the cork, it was clear the cork was too loosely fitting and had no back pressure pushing it out. Nearly totally flat. It pours a hazy, medium-brown body with just some large bubbles, but it’s not carbonation. The nose is very malty like a Brown Ale, a little sweet, and spicy, with spice aromas of cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. On the palate, the mildly sweet, caramely malts are very toasty but not to the point of being roasty. The sweet, baking spices become more prominent after the entry. It’s medium-full in weight, and as noted, carbonation is just about nil, which makes the sweetness linger without a counterpoint. Overall, this is a pretty tasty beer for the winter season, but man, if only it were carbonated. A touch more bitterness would also help a lot to balance the building sweetness.
750ml bottle. Pours a very large creamy, beige looking head. Has a dark amber/brown colour, very rusty look. Good balance of malts and hops aromas. Some yeast is noticeable and a hint of vanilla. Pretty good lacing. Mouthfeel is slightly watery but a bit creamy at first. Flavours are somewhat bitter with some spices. Faint hops, much more malty taste. Some roasted coffee notes, a hint of caramel. Obtained as a stocking stuffer. How great is that?! :) ChadPoole (479) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 1, 2016
750ml bottle, pours dark amber with a light tanned head. Aromas of malts and spices. Tastes of roasted nuts and a mild sweet eat caramel with a medium body. A great beer. QcBeer (205) - Quebec, CANADA - FEB 7, 2016
0.75 bottle. Clear, brown color and a small, off-white head. Aroma of malts, spices, a tad of licorice, some nuts, and delicate hints of alcohol. Sweet taste of spices, malts, caramel, and cinnamon. Medium body, slick texture, and average carbonation. Finish is even spicier, really Christmas-y. Overall a mediocre beer, nothing unexpected given the usual quality of spiced, Christmas brews. fonefan (52982) - VestJylland, DENMARK - SEP 29, 2015
