Draught at the Deschutes Brewpub in Portland, OR on 23 May 2013. Poured a very dark brown with a dense tan head. Aroma of cocoa nibs, smoked malt and molasses. Smoked peat in the initial flavour with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Good, thick mouth feel. Finish was nice and bitter with roasted malt and some liquorice sweetness. Draft. Cola colored with an off white head. Aroma is leathery and smoky. Taste follows suit and adds some nice cherry and chocolate notes. Thick oily palate that sticks in the mouth. Very nice.

(draft @ MacGregor’s - Henrietta, NY) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Smokey aroma with a mild roasted chocolate and burnt malt undertone. Sampled on tap at Timothy O’Toole’s in Gurnee as part of the birthday extravaganza with ck1, thanks bro! Pours a dark brown with little head. Aroma has heavy peat with caramel and smoke. Taste follows. Very scotch ale-y and not very porter-y, which is a shame as Edmund is world class as one of the components. ck1 said 12 as well.
