Bright copper color; generous creamy head.
Delicate aroma, mixing cookies, cereals, grass, fruity hops, spices; complex, original and stimulating.
Medium body strength, the mouthfeel is very smooth; there is a strong caramel and toffee flavor with the perfect balance of hops (indeed strong) and sweetness (just the required amount); the hops have a light citrusy side.
The final is very long, with toffee and a biscuity hop character.
A wonderful beer, that hits with the strength of the hops and seduces with the harmony and complexity of the potion.
Bottle. It looks straighforward good in the glass, maybe a bit dull somehow, but sure good, with its clear, golden body and an off-white cap. Hop dominates the aroma, with a good dash of pine, but there’s also maltyness. The flavor is even more on the hoppy side, quite fruity and very piney, leaving the malty flavors in the far back. That goes for the finish too, a long and bitter one. Full body. A lovely beer for a hophead, but maybe a one-dimentional. (071123) jtclockwork (16857) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Bottle from 5K backlog. Pours clear yellow gold. White head. Nose and taste of grapefruit rind, malt, pine and pear. A little dry in the finish. Medium bodied. brokensail (16609) - Dublin, California, USA - MAR 8, 2011
A: The pour is a slightly hazed golden orange color with a finger of white head and some sticky lacing.
S: A sharp citric note to the nose is noticeable immediately. There’s a touch of alcohol along with some nice pine and quite a lot of floral hops too. The more I smell it, the more grapefruit juice I get out of it.
T: Candied grapefruit along with just a touch of pine. Some other sweet citrus notes to go along with a nice breadiness. Some mild caramel and toffee. A nice floral hop flavor that provides a bit of a perfumey character.
M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation that fills the mouth nicely.
D: One of the better English style IPAs that I have come across. bhensonb (15498) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 24, 2009
Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours a very light copper with a good finely bubbled near-white head. The floral aroma is to die for. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is lots of floral/fruity hop. There’s some malt, but who cares. Seems to be something like peach/apricot and citrus. Finishes rather dry, and the fruity bitter stays through and on. Wish I lived near where this is retailed. With time a few hot bits pop up, but the fruit endures.
