Dark brown pour, ample tan head, Some coffee and caramel but predominantly roasted malts. A solid brew but not on the level of the best (such as Founders). A bit too malty for my taste.
Clear dark cola colored with ruby highlights and a large beige head with great retention. Great lacing. Classic porter profile. Lightly bitter dark chocolate flavor with just a hint of roasted coffee. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Sarlacc83 (2437) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 12, 2017
A: Semi-glossy black with a creme color head and light lacing.
M: Cocoa, earth, coffee, ash, charred biscuit and malts, touch of molasses, more of the baker' s chocolate coming up throughout. Bark and some leafiness. Tastes like it was filtered through charcoal.
T: Very roasty and bitter with an underlying sweetness that takes the back seat to the campfire and coffee.
M: Medium body, creamy carbonation, no alcohol presence.
O: Pleasant porter. A big roasty boat of a beer. A standard and for good reason. Bullit (4803) - Buffalo, New York, USA - DEC 9, 2017
Bottle from Consumer Beverages. Dark brown, beige head. Roasty and fruity, no coffee nor chocolate. Slight bitterness. A bit light bodied. Subliminal64 (248) - London, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 25, 2017
Where Purchased: 347ml bottle part of a Great Lakes mixer pack at Meijer
Consumed: from a pilsner glass
Aroma: Smells malty with a fairly heavy sour note. Not much else there.
Appearance : filtered dark brown with lots of head that last to the last drop. Excellent lacing.
Taste: very smooth, malty, slightly sweet and a hint of bitterness.
Palate : medium to heavy body. Slight bitter aftertaste. Good carbonation.
Overall: very well balanced and easy drinking. Other then the smell this is a near perfect example of the style. I was glad to try and will buy again. MB. The Beer "Bear"on.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2017 Pours an amber brown with a thick white head. A little more hoppy tasting than a typical porter. Crisp but with a coffee taste. A really nice example of a classic porter. Bill Becker (2007) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 31, 2017

I got this in a trade with autumnaldave. Thanks Dave!
This pours from 12oz bottle(best by 2/11/08) a clear dark brown with reddish hues and a small 1 finger head of foam that recedes to a fine broken layer after some time but the good lacing lasts even longer. Very appealing to look at in my glass.
The smell is of chocolate, roasted malt, and a touch of hops.
The taste is big roasted and caramel malt and chocolate notes with a nice thick mouthfeel and light carbonation. More sips in and there's a mild infusion of hop bitterness that takes the edge off the sweetness a bit and it does a nice job of it. Wonderful bitterish aftertaste going on here. Wow. Tasty as heck but so damn smooth drinking and for me, something I'd consider quite sessionable. I can't get over how nice the chocolate is in this Porter and how well all the flavours work together. I just found my new favourite example of the style, me thinks. This is one that certainly deserves to be sought out! Thanks again, Dave!!
