Cask version at Barley’s 5th Annual Mini RAF (04/28/07): This beer is a lightly hazed dark amber color with a medium off-white head that has good retention. Rings of lacing. The aroma is mostly hoppy with smokey malt undertones. Dry, medium body with both hops and smoke flavors, neither of which dominates. Light malt in the backgound as well. The finish is mildly bitter hops, with the smoked character still lurking in the background. Interesting beer, although it does not really push any boundaries. crossovert (12670) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 23, 2013
Not even close to smokey. It is a ncie pale ale though, mild, dry, nice citrus character. Sammy (12105) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 3, 2013
A nice smoked beer, at Slow’s BBQ, Detroit. A light and welcome smoke. Deep yellow body. Lovely smell.

Draft from Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting. Pours clear dark straw with off-white head. Nose is rauchy pale malt, hopcitrus. Tastes crisp with a well balanced smoky flavor paired with a nice hopcitrus and pale malt backbone. This one is smooth and flavorful, with a clean finish. The crew at Craft Ale House enjoyed this one, as did the King of Crambone. BVery (10328) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAR 1, 2012
Cask at the brewpub. Orange pour with a white head. Smokey, ham, and some biscuity malt to go along with soft hop presence. Good stuff. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 17, 2013
7oz on tap at Fifty West. Clear orange color. Thin white head. Good thicker lace. Medium body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Kind of soft, lightly slick finish. Good hop profile. Lightly spicy, and orange citrusy. Light caramel malt. I hear this is a smoked pale ale, but smoke is very subtle. This might be because I am standing next to a bonfire as I taste this. Moderate bitter taste, little sweet taste. Solid, hoppy pale ale. Sneaky amount of smoke... well-balanced, you could say blipp (9175) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUN 7, 2011
Pours amber with an off white head. Malty sweet aroma with some light citric notes. The flavor has pale malts, light smoke, a light sweetness, and some floral hops. Good stuff. b3shine (8804) - Indiana, USA - FEB 21, 2014
Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a transparent vibrant orange with foamy eggshell head. Smells mildly hoppy with a bit of smoke. Tastes like it smells, but more robust. Solid on the palate. An interesting take on the style.
