2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Mostly offensive floral and vegetable aromas. Clean slightly sour flavor, ruined by the sickening aroma. I suppose some might enjoy this - I don’t.
Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head. Smells of spices of cinnamon, clove, coriander, lemons, and grass. Coriander overwhelms the palate with cinnamon, clove, lemon grass. The fiinsh is rather spicey. weihenweizen (4204) - Charleston, West Virginia, USA - JUN 16, 2011
Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Taste was herbal and lots of chamomile. I don’t really like this one. Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - APR 14, 2011
Reviewed from notes. Poured into a tulip.
Pours a hazy yellow color with a bit of a light apricot hue. White head that doesn’t persist for long. The nose is...whoa. There is a lot going on. It’s all a bit too much and I don’t think everything comes together at all. I get some lemon, tea, flowers, chamomile, grass, and a bit of grain. The taste worsens this as there is a weird sort of bitterness from all these earthy, plant-like flavors. Feel is a bit astringent. In the end, I really did not enjoy this.

Wow, just wow. I was stoked to find this awful tick in my friends fridge. Bottled 11/19/10. I had this when it was fresh but I didn’t review it. Also back then I didn’t know anything about saisons.
A- This is a pretty dark saison. Deep amber red. Short head with slouchy lacing.
S- Weird. Butter, toffee, salt, pepper, hay and a weird funky earthiness.
T- A mish-mash of damp spices and mold. A strange butteriness comes in toe with cheese. This finish is bizarre and alarming.
M- Very, very dry. I need some water. b33r (880) - Ohio, USA - SEP 24, 2010
Light gold color with small head. Aroma and flavor are pretty weak, but still have nice light hoppy and bretty notes with some faint fruitiness. It’s okay

From 12 ounce bottle. Pours hazy gold with loose white head. Yeasty bread aroma with some grassy and floral notes. Thin on the palate with malt, lemon, and a weak, astringent bitterness. Not a standout - not a great example of the style. jezmez68 (404) - Chesterton, Indiana, USA - MAY 3, 2010
I would have to agree with those who say Great Lakes make some great beers. However, I was given this beer by a friend to ensure he wasn’t crazy. I assure you, he is not.
The beer is beautiful in color and produces a nice head. The initial smell I picked up was saison yeast, just a slight fruitiness. Drinking tastes like a mouthfull of mown grass. Overwhelming mown grass, and not at all in a good way. Shared the glass with two others. After 3 drinks, I poured it down the drain, something I have never done.
I’m thinking you should save those herbs for tea and pasta. Way to screw up what is probably a very nice saison. donttreadonme (91) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 21, 2010
UPDATED: APR 8, 2010 Smells like a cheap French Hooker. Rarely have had bad brews from Great Lakes but Chamomile? C’mon guys. Lemon balm? Sounds more like a chcik’s shampoo than beer. This was the first six pack I’ve bought in years that I couldn’t finish. goldtwins (4319) - Nesconset, New York, USA - MAR 10, 2010
Poured a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma was of grass and melon with odd notes of shrimp. Yes I said shrimp. Malty flavor with a taste of cut grass. Medium bodied. WakeandBake (549) - Greenville, Michigan, USA - FEB 15, 2010
Bottle. A hazy golden straw color with a huge, lasting foamy white head , high level of carbonation , some jagged lacing left . Aroma of grass , lemon, and yeast esters like cloves and banana . Flavor is a mix of spices, slightly herbal, quite yeasty , lots of clove and grass flavors , nice toast on the malt if you can pick it out . Odd finish , like fresh hay with a bit of shuger , slightly dry ,medium body for the style , slightly chalky mouthfeel . Drinkable , and could be sessionable but one of these is plenty for me , not really sure why but just not what im looking for .
