Draught. This is a doppel that failed to do it for me. Had this in Columbus and expected more.

Bottle from Marco - thanks! Pours a dark but clear caramel brown with an initially solid tan head that fades out to a foam slick. Aroma is dominated by toffee, caramel, and lightly roasted malt in the background. Taste is lightly roasted malt up front followed by extremely sweet malt, raisin, toffee, and a tinge of alcohol into the finish. Mouthfeel is even and coating. Nice enough beer but it strikes me more as an imperialized brown than a doppelbock but what do I know.

Pours a reddish-brown with a thick sticky off white head. Lots of lacing. Deep malty caramel aroma and whiskey. Chewy thick malty body. Ends with a long earthy bitterness. Reminds me of Southern Comfort. Heavy handed and somewhat clumsy.

2nd beer of the night an what a big step up. Deep brown with hints of red, kind of clear. Aroma is sweet malts, fruity. Flavor is sweet and full of chocolate with very light hints of roast. Very enjoyable.

On tap at McGregors. Fruity/sour nose. Appearance is outstanding - light orange/copper/brown, thick head, sudsy. Esthers evident. Smooth, nutty, boozy (slightly noticeable in the palate), good malt character, toffee also present. Not as much of the dry fruit bomb effect as I am used to for this style, unique but good.

Deep dark brown with a reddish hue. The head is small and fades fast. There is very little aroma. The flavor is very subtle, there is very little hoppy flavor, the deep malty flavor. The finish is slow and clean. This is a higher alcohol beer but does not give a warming session at all. This is a pretty good beer, and unfortunatley only available in their brewery, but makes the trip worth it.

Sample from MRAF at Barleys Smokehouse. Deep ruby colored with a light tan head with little retention. The aroma was light, sweet malt and cherry perhaps. The flavor was also fairly light, clove, caramel malt, dark fruit. A very spritzy beer, and perhaps a bit thin in spots...not bad, but not their best.

Firkin at MRAF at Barleys Smokehouse in Columbus Ohio - Poured copper with a creamy tan head that faded pretty quick. Aroma is mostly caramel, but some notes of raisin as well. Flavor is nice malty caramel, sweet raisin, and light roasted notes. Palate was malty and medium bodied. Somewhat watery on the finish.

On tap at the brew pub. This beer is a strong dopplebock with a heavy malt flavor and a clear alcohol flavor. The body is not as heavy as I expected, given the etoh,
