A classic German hefe-weizen served unfiltered to showcase the banana and clove notes of the yeast. A great summer thirst quencher.

Tmoney99 (14622) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 11, 2012
Draft sample at brewpub. Poured cloudy amber color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate banana, clove and yeast aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a solid sweet finish of moderate duration. Good refreshing brew.

Drake (13954) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 14, 2011
Sampled on draft at GTMW 2011. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of wheat, clove and a fruity finish. The taste is wheat, bread and big clove notes. Medium bodied. Not as much banana as advertised but still pretty good.

JaBier (8027) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - MAY 5, 2014
Pint at GLBC on 5/3/14. Cloudy yellow gold in color with a thick white head. Aroma of banana, clove, marshmallow, creamy wheat and pepper. Creamy wheat flavor with banana and clove giving way to citrus and pepper before a watery finish.

DiarmaidBHK (5113) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 3, 2011
Pours only somewhat cloudy from tap which is unusual for a Hefeweizen. Some Banana on the nose. nice banana and clove flavor on the tongue but the finish is all wrong. It should be a bit drier.

3.4
tmoreau (4436) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - AUG 14, 2017
On tap at the Rigby in Madison, WI. for Great Lakes GToM pre-party, served to a goblet showing a hazed, orangey/gold color, with soft white head foam, and spiraling cling to the lacing. The nose was soft grain, slight yeast, light citrus, some circus peanut candy scent, and spice. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, the taste was similar notes, with clovey phenols that was dominant in the flavor. A refreshing Hefe, nonetheless.

BelgianBeerGal (4087) - Panama City, Florida, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Draft sample at the brewery. Pretty big overall. Thicker than expected mouthfeel from the wheat. Definitely a big helping of banana and clove notes. Pretty good.

2.9
madvike (3271) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 28, 2011
On tap at GTMW - Pours hazy amber with no head. Aroma of light banana, bubble gum, and clove. Pretty classic, but neither as pungent or complex as the classics. Taste sadly isn’t as pronounced, it’s watery and not very bold. Very minerally, with muted taste of everything that’s on the nose. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated, but not a beer I’d pay for.

Nickls (2541) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAY 9, 2016
Tap. Darker hazy orange with minimal head. Lots of citrus in the aroma, some wheaty grain notes as well, just really basic and subdued. Same goes for the flavor, some citrus and a touch grassy for the style and slight white fruits. Lighter chalky body.

3.4
Drew (2411) - Kent, Ohio, USA - JUN 18, 2002
thick body; light orange/almost dark almond color. had less wheat tangy-ness than most wheats. crisp, dry finish.

3.6
joshwilfong (1200) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - JUL 1, 2010
medium yellowish-brown with huge white head. hazy. mostly clove to the nose. mild bitterness before a very nice clove and banana yeast flavor with enough residual sweetness to give this a nice mouthfeel, which most other examples lack. very nice
