3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2012-02-09. Black body with a nice tan head. Dry coffee in aroma like a strong fresh cup of coffee. Ephemeral hint at vanilla? 7+ Flavour is similar, very dry roasty coffee character. Fairly bitter, long lingering roast in the aftertaste. 6+ Average plus palate. Solid beer but too much coffee character for me as a non-coffee drinker. On tap at the brewery, Toronto
March 21, 2012 with blankboy and garthicus. Bomber c/o blankboy. It’s black, a decent tan head. Smells mostly of acidic roast coffee / coffee beans, no alcohol - maybe a bit of nutshell bitterness (7+). Taste - follows, add in a fair bit of baker’s chocolate, some grain character, no alcohol or sweetness to it at all. Oddly light body, it’s slick with mild carbonation and quite a bit of low-level acidity, a long dry acidic finish - like over-boiled coffee, herbal, with a long, long coffee aftertaste. blankboy (7833) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 23, 2012
My bottle [660ml] shared with garthicus & HogTownHarry. March 21. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small diminishing bubbly tan head. Aroma: Whoa, coffee galore, along with roasted malt, a bit of chocolate and that’s pretty much it -- smells great though. Delicious flavour with lots of coffee, lots of chocolate, roasted malt and light leafy hops. Average bodied. Great stuff, if you’re a coffee fan, I am and I loved it. garthicus (2953) - Dublin, IRELAND - MAR 21, 2012
Thanks to Blankboy. Appearance: Pitch black, brown head. Aroma: vanilla, so much coffee, lovely fresh coffee, like a cold cup of coffee, smells wonderful. Flavour: Holy cow, a wonderful cup of cold coffee, chocolate, bitter, medium mouthfeel with a long coffee finish. Very decent beer. Coffee without being obnoxiously so. Lovely. mabel (9874) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 1, 2012
[4287-20120209] Tap. Roasty rich coffee chocolate aroma. Black body with a quick foamy light brown head. Sweet chocolate roasted malt flavour has a long aftertaste. Full body. Well-balanced and quite tasty, just a hint of dry bitterness. (8/3/7/3/14) 3.5 Sammy (12843) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2012

Very much a cup of coffee. Coffee aroma, thinner mouthfeel, a little acidic, ok drinkability. Good lacing.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2012 Deep brown black pour with a tight brown head. The aroma is lovely. A lot of coffee flavour with some light vanilla flavour on the back. There is a little bit of almost cherry like fruitiness on the back. Some ashy sort of coffee flavour. It’s got a light bit of sweetness to counteract the roast. Lots of coffee but they manage to keep the vegetal character restrained. Palate is light, but not watery. Interesting stuff.
