3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. Very cloudy almost grey/brown. Foamy cream head, tons of sticky lacing. Huge grapefruit an resin aroma. Nice creamy mouthfeel. 8% ABV well hidden. Not complex. Bitter throughout. Well made hop bomb.
2013-02-01 - on draught at Bar Hop. 8%. Almost murky amber-gold with minimal frothy beige head (borderline 2/5 - not an attractive pour). Aroma of resin, alcohol, light background simple cereal grain, and a really nice light almost sangria sourness - mild young red wine with tart fruit - just a hint of it, a bit oaky (8-). Taste - frankly like Pompous Ass with added red wine and mild oak - not boozy, but strong, with building bitterness. Still mouthfeel, fairly thick, takes its time finishing, leaves a nice little bit of almost sticky vinous/resin sourness - obviously not left in that barrel too long, but long enough to absorb a lot of character. I really, really liked it - again, please! mabel (10004) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 27, 2013
[5086-20130131] Tap. Strawberry shortcake aroma. Hazy, brown body with a quick foamy white head. More strawberry shortcake meets peppermint patty in the flavour with boozy fruity grains. Medium-full body. Really interesting balance but suuuuuper boozy. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2

2012-01-31. Hazy dark yellow amber body, small head. 3+ Sweet malt aroma has an interesting caramel malt and hop melange. 6+ Flavour is similar, pale malt, alcohol, strange hop character that reminds me of something I can’t place. 6+ Average plus to medium bodied palate. Decent. On tap at Bar Hop, Toronto

(Draught at The Alibi Room GLB Tap Takeover, Kingston ON, Jan 17 2013) Poured a hazy brown with an inch of whitish head, lots of lacing. Aroma is hop resin, caramel, grapefruit pith - very hoppy but not very fruity. Palate had a bit of pit fruit early as it warmed, probably a combination of caramel malt and hops. Otherwise a bracingly bitter hopshake with pine resin throughout, boozy on the finish, huge bitterness overwhelming almost all else. Palate is creamy and full, carb low with a hot finish. A hop bomb for sure, but not very complex and a little brutal, should not have been my first beer of the night as I was chugging water to regain some semblance of a palate! I prefer my DIPAs a lot fruitier. blankboy (7867) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 8, 2013
Draught at Bar Hop Customer Appreciation Night, Jan. 31. Pours a hazy orange-copper with a spare diminishing white head. Aroma of caramel malt and a good amount of resiny & citrusy hops. Flavour is hoppy with a big bitter, and slightly boozy, finish. Medium bodied. This almost reminded me of an English Barley Wine -- it’s good but I didn’t love it.

Bar Hop First Year Anniversary party. Insane amount of hop aroma. Cloudy grapefruit coloured body. Liquid hop pellet level of IBU. Impossible to go beyond sips and take the bitterness. Worth a try for the experience and fun.
