We love our local roasters New Orleans Iced Coffee so much we decided to use their beans in our brew. Redband Stout is made with Indonesian and Ethiopian beans using our 18-hour cold brew extraction method, resulting in a satisfying brew with intense coffee aromatics. The marriage of two of our favorite beverages.

@ Oskar Blues Burning Can Fest 2012. Black with a frothy tan head with a delightful aroma of sweet dark cocoa and roasty coffee grounds. Flavor packs a big coffee wallop with a faint undertone of roasty black malt bitterness. Flavor is a little too much on the cold coffee tone for me, and not sweet enough. Kinda bitter in its roastiness

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a tulip. Redband has a viscous molasses color with a small dollup of a tan head on top. The aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, bitter dark chocolate, and espresso. This is definitely a well made stout, if a little straight forward. The malt has a medium roast character, and there are both bitter, dark chocolate and sweet milky cocoa flavors. A bitterness is present from the start, but it grows over time. A strong espresso presence is noticeable throughout, working with the roasted malt bitterness up front and the chocolatey milkiness later in the sip in different ways. The finish is fairly clean, with a bitter flourish. This has a medium to full body, a light, smooth, and creamy carbonation, and a texture that is viscous without ending up as overly sticky. This is a quality coffee stout, and definitely the best beer I have had out of Iowa so far.

Can at my folks place, hanging out on Mothers Day, excused myself to go knock out a rating. Poured into a "beer" glass, which isnt something I would use at home, but has been serviceable enough in the past I suppose... Pours clear black, very thick and pervasive dark tan head, nice lacing, but nothing exceptional. Nose is black coffee, lots and lots of coffee, along with light roast, and a hint of something metallic, but only just the barest hint. Flavours are medium-bodied, with notes of coffee, big red berries, some red licorice, round, berryish and smooth. Solid, but not exceptional IMO.

[Can] Pours dark brown with a nice brown head, which diminishes to just a ring. Aroma is big on coffee with a little chocolate and barbeque sauce. The taste isnt bad. Lots of coffee, obviously, with a huge dose of chocolate as well. I got some barbeque sauce in the beginning, but it faded fairly quickly. Somewhat thin mouthfeel, smooth, long finish. Not a bad beer at all, and a pleasant surprise for me.

16oz tall boy courtesy of pepsiedcan. Pours a jet black with a seriously dark brown head. Nose is pure coffee, thats all I get. I could throw in some other descriptors in there, but really I would be lying to you. All I smell is coffee. And... The taste follows suit... Imagine cold, carbonated coffee with a shot of vodka thrown in. Because thats exactly what it tastes like. Exactly. Cold, carbonated, alcoholic coffee. Which isnt necessarily a bad thing... If thats what youre looking for. Damn. This is the most coffee-ish coffee stout I have ever encountered. Overall, not bad at all. Not bad.

Interesting brew. Aroma is all coffee. Pour is near black with brown mixed in. Quite fizzy and an everlasting head. Almost tastes like you are drinking iced coffee. More sour than bitter. Effervescence is borderline harsh. You can lick the sweetness from your cheeks and gums after swallowing, which evolves into coffee bitterness.

Aromatics hit you right in the face with deep coffee notes. Slight astringent alcohol side note. Pours straight dark brown with deep mocha, thick, creamy, head. Lots of stout flavor with heavy coffee notes. I do taste a little bit of a sour, coffee taste on the back end. Overall, I really like this minus the sour taste....

Pours a jet black with brown head. Nose and taste are all coffee. The thing I really like about this beer us that it picked a direction (coffee) & stuck with it. It is what it is & Im a fan.

Obvious coffee aroma. Hard to pick out anything else. Slightly sweet on the nose. A bit of tang/acidity (not really bitterness) from the coffee. Generally smooth and milky palate. Aside from the acidic coffee after effects, a decent beer.

Pour out of 16 oz can is dark black with thin off white head, aroma has notes of big coffee, chocolate, hints of coffee grounds and caramel, hints of roast and some spice notes and a touch of earth, a bit of the wet coffee grounds. Taste is a mix of milky and dark chocolate, some nice coffee and coffee grounds, hints of caramel and biscuit notes, touch of earth and roasted malts finish a bit acidic from the coffee. Pretty decent.
