Pour out of 16 oz can is dark black with thin off white head, aroma has notes of big coffee, chocolate, hints of coffee grounds and caramel, hints of roast and some spice notes and a touch of earth, a bit of the wet coffee grounds. Taste is a mix of milky and dark chocolate, some nice coffee and coffee grounds, hints of caramel and biscuit notes, touch of earth and roasted malts finish a bit acidic from the coffee. Pretty decent. iabeerguy (392) - Iowa, USA - APR 11, 2012
Very proud of this fantastic Iowa brew! This coffee stout pour a dark black, with a nice brown/tan head. Definitely could float a bottle cap on it. Aroma of coffee, sugar, and malts. Flavor is very similar, bitterness from the coffee and a little sweetness to round it out. Very impressive beer; always in my fridge. Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - APR 11, 2012
Big thanks to doughofthefuture for sending a can of this out my way. Served in a SAVOR wine glass.
Pours near-black with a huge mocha head with quite the retention time and some nice ringy lacing as it finally subsides to a thin cap. The nose brings loads of coffee and a touch of cream, with some dark chocolate in the background. Flavor has a nice combo of heavy coffee upfront, followed up with some nice roast and chocolate character. Body is medium to full with a nice creaminess and a touch of dryness in the finish. Really a nice brew. Thanks again.

A thin stout, but the coffee notes are really nice. One of the best coffee stouts I’ve tried. ICEatALAMO (1358) - Troy, Michigan, USA - APR 9, 2012
can. Pours very dark with a thick head that hangs around for a bit. Aroma is mostly coffee, but not overly strong. Taste is a nice oatmeal stout with coffee nicely blended into it. Finishes smooth. A good stout for sure.

Can thanks to Guerde! Pours very brown/black with a creamy dark tan head. My but there’s a strong coffee aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is very coffee, very chicory? herby? something veg, with a lot of dark burnt malt, and I think a subtle hint of chocolate. Anyway there is something that suggests a strong green plant aspect. This is bound to get your attention. Startlingly good. thomas15 (694) - Alabama, USA - MAR 12, 2012
random but at des moines hyvee. was very impressed. good body to beer, all about the coffee. a gem from the middle of no where. piscator34 (2673) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAR 6, 2012
Canned sample. Jet black in colour with moderate carbonation. Loads of espresso-like coffee aromatics, backed by notes of vanilla, milk chocolate, and a hint of fruit. Coffee domintates the flavour profile as well, specifically an acidic dark roast variety. There’s also some notes of malted milk, more vanilla, and a bit of ash. Fairly heavy on the palate, but the acidic coffee notes give it a bit of a lift. Fairly good overall, but maybe a bit too much of a good thing (the coffee). Sledutah (7978) - Utah, USA - MAR 5, 2012

Appearance: Black medium with a medium sized tan head and some lacing
Aroma: Wow, tons of rich roasted coffee. Nice
Taste: Roasted malts, milk chocolates and roasted coffee
Very nice and roasty.
16 oz. can from stevemastny- thanks again, Steve! Pours a mostly opaque coffee brown with a thick, slowly dissipating brown head. Very nice looking. Aroma of rich, roasty coffee, lots of chocolate, and some toasted nuts. The aroma weakens as it warms but was initially very nice. Flavor of coffee and dark chocolate, plus some molasses, rusty copper, overripe plums, and brown sugar. Got worse and fruitier as it warmed. Light-medium bodied, with medium-high carbonation and a metallic mouthfeel. A bit disappointing after so much initial promise.
