UPDATED: APR 18, 2017 Draft at Bainbridge. Thick opaque black pour with khaki foam. Getting a lot of burnt notes up top. Charcoal. Liquid smoke. Ham. Warms to coffee grounds, cocoa nibs, and black liquorice. Additional notes of blackcurrant, burnt hazelnuts, molasses, peat and vinyl. Faint notes of leather and cigarettes. Clean sharp finish. Solid and robust. trapped (3501) - New York, TURKEY - MAY 23, 2016
Draught @ Albion. Inky black with very small frothy tan head, coffee aroma, low carbonation, bitter mocha taste, thin body, longish bitter roasted malt finish. It feels more like a porter than stout. jake65 (3986) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - JAN 2, 2016
Bottle, old notes from the ’15 Boise imperial stout tasting. Small pour, very dark brown and near black in color, topped with a modest tan head. Roasty and toasted malt aroma, some cocoa, and a little anise. I get a little coffee in the taste, along with the heavy roast… there is something sweet in there too. Thick and viscous mouthfeel. Good. mansquito (6815) - Nueva York, New York, USA - JUN 20, 2015
Some guy at the sampler: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malts. Taste is somewhat sweet and roasty. Alcohol is well covered. Pretty smooth. Tmoney99 (14866) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 29, 2014
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a black color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, burnt coffee and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy dark sweet toasted chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is another solid beer.

22 oz bottle thanks to nimbleprop shared with Tmoney99. Pours dark brown to black in color with a thin tan head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses, some bitter coffee, medium-full bodied, smooth, I think the alcohol remains well hidden, solid imperial. Tap pour @ Covenhoven. Matte, near black in glass. Reddish, brown head. Fruity nose of cherries and plums that fades on warming. Roasted malt and anise build. Dull cocoa. Full bodied. Pulls in perfume notes, adds chicory and grill smoke. Flavors play a bit rough with one another. Everything comes across roasted. Active carbonation. Good. jredmond (8518) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 19, 2014
Draft at pony bar with Brendan. Pours a blackish brown body with no head. Aroma is rich starchiness, chocolate, toffee and melted caramel candies. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of bitter chocolate, dry roast, light vanilla and char. Nice. nimbleprop (8723) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 21, 2014
4oz pour at the brewpub pours a murky brown with some creamy, off white head. Nose has a fair amount of licorice, some malt, some molasses, toast, some roast, a little chocolate covered coffee bean. Flavor some some coffee, a little toasted almond, some nougat, molasses, some Hershey’s syrup. Thick finish, fairly smooth though.
