COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like its namesake, this beer is something you could get tangled up in. Brewed year-round and especially popular during the colder months, this beer combines unique ingredients including roasted chocolate malt, flaked oats, cinnamon, licorice root and Long Island apples . . culminating in a savory full-bodied malty goodness, and finishing with a hardy bite.

Bottle at home. Charred wood, cinnamon, bitter licorice root. Baked apple if you use your imagination. Ashy, bitter finish with pumpkin pie spices. Flavors are nicely layered and really pop once it reaches room temp.

Draught @ Waterfront Ale House. Inky black with small tan creamy head, mocha aroma, thin body, chocolate taste with alcohol undertones, low carbonation, long finish with bitter aftertaste. Did not get the licorice at all.

12 ounce bottle thanks to the infamous Dave W. Thanks! Pours a clear dark brown with a large foamy brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, mild anise. The taste is chocolate, nuts, roasted malt, caramel, hints of anise. Medium bodied, decent balance, good beer, though the apples and cinnamon don’t make a dent here.

4oz pour at the brewery an opaque black with some frothy, beige head. Nose has plenty of roasted malt, burnt toast, coffee beans, some dark chocolate, molasses, a little bit of raisin, a little bit of plum, some orange, some mild spice. Flavor has plenty of sticky malt, orange peel, a bit of black pepper, toasted bread, brown sugar, caramel, a bit of caramelized apple, some black currant too. Full bodied with just a hint of alcohol. Very nice beer.

I really like this beer, I don’t get much of the apples they use but damn this beer is tasty. It’s like a black metal band is playing non stop in your mouth. Perfection
