A fantastic brew! Unmatched even in Bavaria, and this is by a Swedish brewer!

rarbring (2288) - Linkping, SWEDEN - MAY 6, 2013
Aroma: A malt explosion, grain, molasses, porridge, bread. Some syrup and caramelized apples.
Appearance: A clear chestnut beer, an off-white low head that leaves some lacing, good curtains.
Taste: Starting with brown bread, honey and porridge, apple marmalade and some orange peel.
Palate: Medium low carbonation, small bubbles, a soft and oily texture. A good body with a slightly dry finish.
Overall: This year very balanced and good.
Note: Bottle 330 ml. (Vintage 2013) Reviewed 2013-05-06.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2008 33 cl bottle - Dark amber colored beer with a small beige head. Aroma is very nutty, actually some hazelnut feeling to it. Very strong roasted almond flavor to it, which surprisingly enough isnt as common as it should be, specially considering how well it works with the enitre flavor.

Bottle, 2008 vintage, purchased at Systembolaget Karlstad in September 2008. My last review here wasnt that serious, so I decided to rewrite it from scratch. Pours a deep ruby red color with a small, dying head. Amazing color anyway. Aroma is vinous; notes of port wine, dried fruits, toffee, liquorice, slightly nutty. Damn good aroma imho, very appetizing! Flavour is sweet, malty and vinous; dried fruits, toffee, port wine & (sweet) liquorice. Palate is filling, fullbodied, smooth, a bit oily even. Carbonation is soft. Overall a very nice sipper. I gave this 4.0 in September but this is even better than that! An amazing doppelbock, and overall one of the best Swedes all categories!

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2011 Bottle. Dark redbrown color. Creamy white head. Malt sweetness, butter and a tiny sourness in aroma. Malty, fruity taste with a small bitterness of dark chocolate in the aftertaste. Small tartness. 2011 bottle: Beautiful red-brown color, nice off white head. This beer is a homage to marzipan! Its also fruity. Delicously "fat" texture. Swedens best beer?

omhper (23898) - Tyres, SWEDEN - JAN 3, 2002
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2003 Bottled - 2002 vintage. Dark amber with no head. Dusty aroma. Hugely malty, dryish and full bodied. very firm and dense maltiness, rich and wonderful. Balanced toasty bitter finish. Perhaps not overlycomplex, but wonderfully flavourful. This beer keeps getting better for every year, but sadly also harder to find.

2003 bottled, with ram on label
Deep rich malty aroma, toasty, with raisins and prune, roasted grain, and brown sugar. Dark brown red hazy with off-white lacing head. Medium-thick oily body with medium-light carbonation. Sweet malty start, with raisin, licorice, alcohol. Warming. Nice dry bitterness and more licorice comes to finish. After is sweet-bitter, licorice, and oily. Nice doppelbock for sure.

Aroma is dominated by rye bread and dark syrup, there is some spicyness in the background as well. Taste is malty, bready a bit sweet but the sweetness is well balanced with the bitterness. The bitterness it self is soft and just act in the background to make the beer balanced. Nice double bock and very well balanced.

Nice crystal clear auburn appearance with a thin but dense head. Very earthy flavor with a slightly smoky finish. The alcohol warms you from the inside and is not overbearing as some doppelbocks can be. Another quality beer from Sweden, thanks Per.
