651mL from Norm’s in Vienna, VA. Last bottle of theirs I think. Late to the bandwagon on this one. Pours cloudy, glowing orange. Enormous, billowing white head. Huge webby lacing and volcanic retention. Nose is pomelo, white grapefruit, chamomile, mild dusty/woody/barrel, biscuit, pale wort. Soft, herbal, not stale. Taste is similar- dusty, herbal, quite dry with some spices, melon rind, bitter grapefruit juice. Very enjoyable even if not super fresh. Picked up a bomber bottle at Best Damn Beer Shop in San Diego, CA. Tasted from a tulip glass. Pours golden with a slight haze and a big frothy off-white head. Nice, large bands of lacing. Aromas of piny/citrusy hops, citrus, and spicy yeast. Sweet, lemony flavors, combining with a light maltiness and the wonderful zestiness of the hops and yeast. Bomber. Big, frothy white head, lasting. Aroma of citrus, grass, grapefruit, toasted grain, lemon. Notes of resin. The taste starts with lemon, citrus but turns bitter grapefruit The finish is lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Bitterness lingers well into the finish. Different. A steady pour into my Bruery tulip produces a three finger thick, just barely, pale-tan colored head; this prodigious head slowly recedes with some light, layered lacing and a structural mesa in the center of the glass. The beer is a nice gold color with some light amber notes to it, when held up to the light the beershows an almost clear, bright, yellow-gold hue. The aroma has an up-front vibrant hop character that is made earthy and spicy from the yeast and spices used. Specific notes of lychee, tangelo zest, guava, musty black pepper, sweet ginger, a green grassy herbal note, and supporting malt notes of dried hay, wheat like cracker character, and an earthiness that is brought out by the malt, the yeast character and the more base level hop notes. The beer is served lightly chilled, this accentuates the fizzy carbonation and a phenolic, spicy finish that leans towards peppery and medicinal. This has a solid biting, hop bitterness to it, thought this isn’t overly aggressive, and the phenolics in the finish accentuate the raw, herbal / woody hop notes. The pale malt / wheat contributes a supporting, linger grassy, wheat cracker flavor and perhaps a bit of rounded, rustic white bread character. The beer is fairly dry, which downplays the fruity hop notes, but they are still quite substantial here; lots of ripe citrus zest flavors, floral tropical fruit and peach notes, definite lychee notes, and some kumquat like flavors as well. The finish can be quite sharp, bitter, and astringent between the yeast character, light spice notes, and ample hop character. This has an earthy spiciness to it that also leans towards peppery, as well as a touch ginger like. Touches of higher alcohols provide some heat to the finish. The body of this beer is quite light, especially for a “standard” IPA of this strength, but this lightness makes sense for a Belgian-influenced beer; if it wasn’t for the spicy, alcoholic notes in the finish this would be eminently, and dangerously quaffable. My second pour that came with some yeast, as well as being a bit cooler, is softer, rounder somehow, and with a bit more yeast flavors.
Not bad, in fact quite enjoyable; the hop character and the yeast contributions definitely clash a bit, especially in the finish, but on the whole this beer works.
Golden color with a subtle hint of citrus. Very nice white frothy head. Clean on the palette.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow with a large white head that slowly dissipates with decent lacing. Aroma is citric, coriander, yeast. Taste is about the same plus tangerine. Bottle from Yamaichi. Creamy wheaty nose, sweet orange, honey, vanilla. Deep golden, clear, tall creamy head. Fruity, creamy flavor, nice orange and citrus, good hoppy finish. Very bitter. Not shakened1st Appear nce was clear light orangish gold with huge creamy lasting white head, lacing throughout pour. Aromas are spicy citrusy hops, belgain funky estery yeasts, slight malts. Taste are orange, lemon, grapefruit, tang with mild sweet malt then, spicey yeasts come to play. Palate was smooth creamy CO2 with meduim body, then average length citrus spicey yeasty finish.
